Bread Machine Cinnamon Rolls

Cinnamon seems like the perfect Autum spice
and what could be better than fresh cinnamon rolls?
My mother-in-law gave this recipe to me
and I don't know what I would do without it.
It's so easy to throw the ingredients into the bread machine
and 1 hour and 40 minutes later I have bread dough.
I use this recipe for basic bread loaves, rolls and of course, cinnamon rolls.

Ingredients:

1 cup warm water
1/2 cup packed brown sugar
1 teaspoon salt
1/4 cup butter, melted
1 egg, beaten
3 cups flour
1 1/2 teaspoons yeast

Place the ingredients into the bread machine according to your manual.
Dust the counter with flour and place your dough onto the flour.
I split the dough and made some dinner rolls
and the other half went towards cinnamon rolls.

For cinnamon rolls, roll out the dough with a rolling pin.
Melt 1/4 cup of butter and pour onto dough.
Sprinkle with cinnamon and sugar.

I didn't measure the cinnamon and sugar - sorry.
Just go by what your taste buds like :)
Roll the dough up
and slice with a knife.

Place in a greased 8-inch pie plate.
Lightly grease the top of the rolls and place waxed paper over the dough.
Let rise until they have doubled in size.

For the dinner rolls, just pinch off small balls of dough with your hands
and place in a greased 8x8 pan.
Lightly grease the top of the rolls
and place wax paper over the dough.
Let rise until they have doubled in size.

And this is what you will have after the rolls baked in the oven.
{{{ yum }}}

Bake in the oven at 350 degrees F for 17 - 22 minutes.

Icing for cinnamon rolls:

1 1/4 cup confetioners' sugar
3 - 4 tablespoons half and half
2 teaspoons vanilla extract

{{{ Enjoy }}}

What a splendidly delicious batch of cinnamon buns. I have celiac disease and last year we got a bread maker designed specifically for making gluten-free bread. It does a very nice job and now you've got me wondering if I could perhaps adapt this recipe and make it in my machine, too. The wheels are turning in my head for sure :)

Thank you very much for your lovely comment on my most recent Scrapbook Blog post, I really appreciate it. I post there periodically, but much, much more often at my vintage blog, Chronically Vintage (which I only mention because I can tell for your gorgeous blog that you adore the past, too).

I am really hoping on getting a bread machine for Christmas! I've been borrowing my neighbor's every now and then, but I'm sure there's a limit as to how many times you should borrow something before the owner begins to hint to you that maybe you ought to buy your own. ;o) I would love to be able to make recipes like this whenever I want!

Hello Stephanie,
Yum! I haven't made these in years. I don't have a bread machine but as a new bride, many moons ago, I used to make bread once or twice a week. I always made a couple loaves of bread, a pan of rolls, and either a cinnamon braid or cinnamon buns. And were they ever good! Nothing like home made!
Then the babies started coming along and I didn't have as much time. Now my hands, wrists, and arms don't like to do so much kneading due to a condition I have. Would sure enjoy sitting and sharing a bun and a cup of tea with you! Thanks for sharing and have a splendid weekend, my friend.

Blessings,
Sandi

I hadn't thought about using my bread maker to make the dough for cinnamon rolls. That's interesting. I just got a new bread maker and I have been happy with everything I've made but now I need to make some doughs and try things like rolls and stuff.

Is the picture of the final product (before icing them) really your cinnamon rolls? They don't look anything like your picture of them as they are rising. Just curious.

Hi Stephanie,
I think I am going to dig out my bread machine. I have not used it in quite a few years. I put it away because I was making a loaf of bread every other day. (AND too much bread makes too much me!)

These cinnamon rolls look delicious! ....with a cup of coffee or tea--even better!

Hope all is well! Have a lovely weekend!
