Sweet Love Birds

Aren't these owls adorable?!

My husband jokingly said they have no purpose,
but I told him they have the purpose of being cute and making someone smile :)

You can make your own sweet owl and this is what you will need...

felt in assorted colors
embroidery floss (thread) in assorted colors
embroidery needle
beads or buttons for eyes
fiberfill
scissors
hot glue gun and glue

The size of my owls are about 3 inches wide and 3.5 inches long.
For one owl you will need:
 2 pieces of felt
1 nose
2 wings
2 eyes
Use 3 strands of embroidery floss and stitch the wings on.
Do the same with the eyes.
Next you will want to hot glue the beads or buttons onto the felt eyes
and hot glue the nose on.
If you want to add any embroidery decoration onto the wings or body,
now is the time to do so.

To make the tassels,
wind the embroidery floss four times around three of your fingers.
Slip the floss from your fingers and wind a length of floss around the end
and tie a knot.
Snip the middle of the loop.
Place both owl body pieces together and thread your needle through the top part.
This way you won't see the knot.
Now hold both pieces together and stitch long the edges.
Slip the tassels in between the felt and continue stitching.
Leave a small opening and stuff your owl with fiberfill.
Use something pointy but not sharp to gently push the fiberfill into the ears.
Stitch up the gap and you're done :)

You can always whip up a few and give them away during Valentine's.

I just found this post on Dec. 28, 2013. So my comment may be on a very old post. Still, I respectfully disagree with your dh. These DO have purpose. Now that Christmas is over, we may be thinking Valentines Day. Make these and attach a tag ie "WHOOO loves you? Me" How about making these into key chains or pins and selling with tags for charity that say something like "Give a hoot!" and then adding whatever the charity is for (like "let's find a cure" or "homes for rescued animals" or so forth) Love your little owls and I'm pinning!
