In Loving Memory Of Rosie Girl

Yesterday in one word was - awful!
My son went outside to play and came across our precious kitty, Rosie Girl...
She had been attacked and killed by a coyote or dog.
With tears streaming down my son's face he said to me,
"Mommy, I don't want that to be our Rosie Girl; I want my Rosie back!"
It broke my heart and the tears have been falling from my eyes ever since.

Rosie Girl was my son's "playmate" and they loved to chase each other around the yard.
She was always by me in my craft room cuddled up to my leg while I worked on a project.
She loved to hop on my husband's lap and snuggle with him.
Rosie girl was not just an animal, she was part of our family.
I know those of you who have pets will understand the sweet bond
that is formed between an animal and its owner.

This morning I missed the sound of her eating out of her food bowl
and the gentle rub against my leg as I prepared breakfast.
I missed her going into my son's room to wake him up with a wet-nosed nudge to the face.
I missed her sitting on my Bible while trying to have morning devotions.
I missed her lounging in her brown chair, sleeping with her mouth hanging open.

Rosie Girl also called Roser Dozer was a very special cat
and she will be missed by us.
In the year that we had her she managed to nestle herself into our hearts
and that is where she will stay.

I made a short picture video of Rosie Girl.
She was only 15 months old when she passed away.

My heart is just breaking for you and for your son. You are loving, compassionate people. I think the best tribute to Rosie's memory would be to adopt another kitty in need of a kind home. You have so much to give in such a God-fearing atmosphere.

Hi Stephanie! Oh my gosh, how horrible! And what a way for your child to experience death for the first time?

It seems like your pet was really more of a family member, and it's so sad. I hope you will feel better day by day. Take the time to grieve though. It is a time for remembering what a great addition she was to you and yours.

Oh, my heart aches for you! We've lost pets and it does hurt so. When we had to put our first Sheltie, Penny, down, a friend sent a card that said, "The grief is so deep because the life was so great." That was indeed true, and made me feel just a little better. In time you won't be so sad, and happy memories will be a comfort.

Oh, Stephanie--I am so sorry for your loss. Our pets are definitely family members! We have lost 3 of our beloved cats--2 to old age and one due to cancer which attacked her spine and paralyzed her. It was AWFUL and I cried my eyes out for weeks. In fact if I recall the events, my eyes still fill up with tears. We have two more kitties and I fear that one of them is getting close to old age as well. I dread it.
Thank you for sharing a video of Rosie--it was a touching tribute to such a loving pet.

I'm so sorry about Rosie! I know the sadness when a beloved pet dies, especially when one is so young. In time, I know you'll be able to shower another deserving kitty with all the love you would have continued to pour into Roser Dozer. By the way, I love that nickname :)

Oh Stephanie I am so sorry for your families loss of Rosie Girl, I started crying when you said your son said he didn't want it to be her, isn't it precious how kids can vocalize their feelings so much better than we do, as adults. I love the pic of her in the center of your sons toys, that is just too cute and so much like cats to be in the center of it all.
Praying the hurt and missing of your little kitty, turn into wonderful memories soon.... sending hugs to you

Hi Stephanie,

I just love tuxedo cats. I've had the privilege of having two of them in my life so far. They steal your heart with their antics and let you know right away they own you, you do not own them. I'm allergic to cats, now. I miss having my Sassy girl in my lap. I empathize with your loss. Sweet memory....thanks.
