Man's Neck Tie Headband

This pretty tie was found at my local thrift store for $1.00.
The pink roses and polka dots were right up my alley :)

I knew my husband would never wear a tie with pink flowers on it
and I would never ask him to wear such a feminine tie
so I decided to make a headband out of it so that I could wear it.

Items needed:
man's tie
wire
thread
sewing needle
scissors
needle-nose pliers

Lets get started :)

Measure the wire to fit the length of the tie then add on about 8 inches.
This is so that you can fold the wire at the ends so that it doesn't poke out.
Cut the wire with needle-nose pliers.

Slide the wire into the tie and push it through to the other side.
The wire is to hold the headband in place on your head
and it makes the headband flexible to make a cute bow on top.

Fold the wire at the ends
and push into the tie.
The wire should be completely hidden inside the tie.

Sew the ends closed.

Measure your head and figure out the length you will need for your tie headband.
The tie is going to be too long so fold it accordion style until you have the right fit.

Sew the folds down.

And you're done!

You can wear it with a knot on top

or you can put the knot at the back and have the folds on top.

Will We Climb The Mountain?

Will We Climb The Mountain?

Those mountains we come across
As we journey through life,
We stop beneath and wonder
If we can climb that high
We come to the conclusion
It's beyond what we can bear,
So we decide not to try it
And choose to stay right there

So we stay just where we are
Unproductive for the Lord
Not moving into what He has
Unaware He has much more
How can God ever use us
If we don't want to move
If we stay hiding in a corner
With no kingdom work to do?

God desperately wants for us
To go deeper into Him
To conquer all our mountains
And have His life within
To get out of the rut
That is holding us back
And develop a deeper faith
Where we had sorely lacked

Those mountains that we came across
Are there to challenge us
To keep us ever trusting God
And relying on His love
For each step we take with God,
He reminds us, He is there,
We need not run away and hide
Nor cower in faithless fear

But step out boldly in total trust
As hard as it may be
For we will never grow in God
Nor come to ever see
Just what lies beyond the mountain
And all God wants to show
If we don't rise to conquer it,
We shall never come to know.

I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills,
from whence cometh my help.

My help cometh from the LORD,
which made heaven and earth.

Spring In The Mountains

Joy is overflowing from my heart
at the prospects of Spring here in the mountains.
The snow that we received in the last 2 weeks has now melted in our yard.
As you can see in this picture there is still snow up high, which is a huge blessing!

Today was just lovely!
My son and I spent most of the day outside catching some rays and enjoying the blue sky :)

The grass is turning green and the Dandelions are popping up.
My son picked my a bouquet yesterday.

There was even a butterfly and a bee.

The trees are beginning to bud.
Exciting for us here in Colorado
though most of you already have flowers blossoming on your trees :)

As they say,
"April shower bring May flowers."

The tulips are slowly coming up.
I will have to cover them before the deer enjoy them as a snack.

I hope each and everyone of you have a splendid weekend :)

Love and hugs!

Retro Safety Pin Necklace

While I was making my safety pin bracelets
the thought crossed my mind to make a necklace with them as well.
Since I bought 2" safety pins that didn't work for the bracelets
I figured they would make a fun necklace.
And this is how it turned out....

Here is what you will need to make one for yourself or a friend:

beads
2" safety pins or any size you want to use
2.4mm ball chain or thin ribbon
scissors

Decide how long you want your necklace and cut the chain/ribbon to that length.
Place beads onto safety pins into your desired pattern.
Then put the pins onto the chain
and you have a fun, retro necklace :)

I hope your week is going well!
We had snow again yesterday - the poor robins must be confused.
Blessings to you all!

The Rose

It is only a tiny rosebud
A flower of God's design
But I cannot unfold the petals
With these clumsy hands of mine

The secret of unfolding flowers
Is not known to such as I
The flower God opens so gently
In my hands would fade and die

If I cannot unfold a rosebud
This flower of God's design
How can I have wisdom
To unfold this life of mine?

So I'll trust in Him for His leading
Each moment of every day
And I'll look to Him for His guidance
Each step of the pilgrim way

For the pathway that lies before me
My heavenly Father knows
I'll trust Him to unfold the moments
Just as He unfolds the rose.

You Alone Are My Heart's Desire

"As the hart panteth after the water brooks,
so panteth my soul after thee, O God."
~ Psalm 42:1 ~

As the Deer
As the deer panteth for the water, so my soul longeth after You.
You alone are my heart's desire, and I long to worship You.
You alone are my strength, my shield;
To you alone may my spirit yield.
You alone are my hearts desire, and I long to worship You.

Have a blessed Lord's Day!

The pictures were taken on my way to church last week.
My sweet husband pulled over on the road so that I could quickly take some pictures :)

Thanks To A Fellow Blogger

Hello sweet friends!
It's the weekend, do you have any special plans?

My sweet husband will be home soon so we will get to enjoy the afternoon together
with coffee and  board games.
Tomorrow we might head off into the woods to look for deer and elk antler sheds,
that is if the weather cooperates.
I have seen some unique craft ideas for antlers so now I have the itch to find some :)

Anyway, this post is long overdue and should have been up 2 weeks ago.
had a sweet giveaway when she reached 20 followers and I was the blessed winner.
The gifts arrived the day before my birthday so it was like getting an early birthday gift.

Vicky is a beautiful and kind lady and she has a wonderful blog.
She would love to have you visit.

I wanted to share with you the delightful goodies she sent my way.

I couldn't believe my eyes when I kept pulling gifts out of the box.
Vicky put such thought into the many gifts - I felt so spoiled!

Of course I instantly fell in love with this tea cup and will use it in my craft room
and the cards are just my style with the roses :)

The ribbon was so lovely and I have already put it to good use
and isn't the little notebook adorable?!

My sweet tooth was thanking Vicky for the yummy treats
and I immediately put the candy in my craft room
since I always need a  snack while I'm in there working.

And then the bee's....I fell in love with my new bee friends!

How cute are these bee measuring spoons?!
They are on display in my kitchen and are the perfect addition for summer.

This bee candle holder is adorable and will be used often.

My heart is full of thanks for kind Vicky.
If you have time, please go tell her hello :)

Have a splendid weekend!

Stylish Safety Pin Bracelets

I have seen several safety pin bracelets on blog land
and have wanted to make one ever since I saw them :)
So I finally bought the necessary items
and made some.

Items needed:
1" safety pins
glass beads
clear stretch cord
scissors
decorative beads (optional)
pliers

Measure your wrist
and figure out the length you need for the stretch cord.
You will want to cut two strands of cord
and cut extra so that you have enough for tying a knot.

Also, you don't want the bracelet to be too tight because the pins might snap open
so try and make your bracelet slightly loose but not too loose :)

Place the beads onto the safety pins.
Use pliers to squeeze the safety pin shut so that the pin doesn't pop open.

I originally planned on using 2" safety pins,
but soon realized the beads did not fit on them.

If you are using decorative beads you will want to add them to your pins.
Once you have enough safety pins done
begin putting them on the strands of stretch cord
and alternate your pins like this picture shows.

Tie a knot (I knotted my strands 3 times) once you're done.
Pull tightly!

And you're done :)

I made two other bracelets
and with these I added bigger beads in between the safety pins.

Have a wonderful day, lovelies!
