Home Sweet Home

Hello, beautiful friends!
I trust each one of you are doing well and enjoying this new week.

Hubby, son, and I had a wonderful time camping
and thoroughly enjoyed our time away - it ended too soon, but isn't that the way with vacations?
It's always refreshing to get away from every day activities
and time spent in the great outdoors is always a joy
because there is so much of God's incredible creation to look at.

We headed out last week in our trusty ol' truck and look at what ran right in front of us. . .

Isn't he magnificent?!
We were quite excited to start our trip off with seeing such a handsome buck :)

Up we went into the mountains and along the way we passed the Ruedi Reservoir.

We continued to climb high into the mountains and found just the right spot to set up our tent.
There was no one around and everything was so calm and peaceful. . .

We took several hikes and on Friday we hiked above our camp site.

We were right by two little ponds and the river was also close by.
It was lovely to listen to the flowing water as we fell asleep at night.

Hubby and son caught several fish out of the river.

We did an eight mile hike on Thursday and had a fabulous time.

Although we did get caught in the rain on our way back to the tent,
but thankfully it did not last too long :)

Here are some photos from our hike.

We were probably at around 11,000 feet up in the mountains.

Just as we were starting to get weary from the hike,
we at last came upon this beautiful lake.
The journey was well worth it.

There was an avalanche at some point during the winter
and if you look closely at the picture below you'll see several trees in the water
that were taken down by the snow.

The wildflowers were simply beautiful!
There were many that I have never seen before and I think it's because we were up so high.

Columbine - our state flower.

Indian Paintbrush

All of the yellow blossoms bring a smile to my face :)

We also saw a few cute critters.

This rabbit liked to come out in the mornings and evenings
and my son enjoyed "playing" with him.

We also had rain, but thankfully our tent is waterproof and we had no problems.
It was actually very relaxing to sit out under the tarp with coffee
as raindrops came down around us.

And speaking of coffee, is there anything better than a hot cup of camp coffee :)
Mmmm...

As we were leaving our camp site on Saturday
a little beetle clung to the truck window for quite some time.
Maybe he didn't want us to leave?

We came over Hagerman Pass on our way home.

This is what the road looked like as we came over Hagerman Pass.

And once again I was left in awe of the majestic mountains.

It's good to be home and I am eager to catch up with you, sweet friends :)
Have a lovely day - I hope it's full of joy and sunshine!
Hugs to you!

What a wonderful camping trip with your sweet family, Stephanie! I loved seeing all the pics of the glorious outdoors and also of all of you. Rich and I hiked in Rocky Mountain National Park several years ago. It was so wonderful to see what was at the various elevations. Oh, what fun we had and such great memories. I'm sure Rich's world is beyond magnificent now. I can only imagine! xo

What a beautiful corner yours is! Now that's camping...far from the crowds (and, hopefully, far from the bears). Such trips are needed several times a summer, don't you think? Love the family photo as much as the beautiful scenery...you all look relaxed and happy.

Hi Stephanie!
Welcome Home to Blog Land! What to say about the photos but tres magnifique?! I liked the one of the three of you standing there. Did Yogi or Boo Boo take that one? LOL!

Insanely humid here in Maryland, but a big front is supposed to come through tonight and TA-DA...The SUN! Or at least that's the way it's supposed to work out.

VBS this week for adults, too. Enjoying it. LOVED VBS as a child. Remember sitting alone on my swing at age six belting out Onward Christian Soldiers!

xxoo, m & jb (yup, jb DOES hug, and she kisses with her very wet nose :)

Stephanie, I can't tell you how much I loved this post today. Everything about it - the rabbit, the lake, the beautiful mountain that you hiked up, and that amazing BUCK! It is certainly a beauty. There is nothing like nature to renew our spirit and rejuvenate ourselves. I love nature and it brings me peace all the time. That cup of coffee looks so good, and I like that blue tin cup. I want to go camping now, and it's been so long since I've been. Thank you for sharing your camping pictures, and the picture of all of you is great, and I especially liked the one of your son and the rabbit.

love,
~Sheri
