Sweet Birdie Pillow With Matching Hanging Pillow

Happy day to you, dearies!
The weekend is just around the corner - do you have any special plans?
I have several family members coming from Canada including my dear Grandpa
so they will be coming over for a cookout on Saturday.
I can't tell you how excited I am to see them!
I have not seen Grandpa since my precious Grandma Betty's memorial service
which was over a year ago.
Grandpa will be staying with my parents for two weeks
so I am looking forward to spending time with him.

* * * * *

The other day a very special friend of mine had a birthday.
I met Abby through blogging a couple of years ago
and she has been quite instrumental in my life.
She is an encouragement, a blessing, a joy, a friend, and an example of wisdom.
For her sweet day I made her this bird pillow - after all, her blog is called
I also added a matching hanging pillow.

The pink strip on the pillow was purposely frayed on the edge for a shabby look.

Crocheted lace was added to one side,

and the cut-out bird was hand sewn on.
The wing is a piece from an old doily

On the corner I sewed on a cut out piece of another old doily.

And for the hanging pillow I sewed the fabric wrong-sides together
so that the edges would eventually fray.
Pearls and a yo-yo flower were attached for the finishing look.

Abby is a sweetheart so if you have never been to her beautiful blog
than I would highly recommend a visit :)

Have a splendid day, dear friends!

You are very good at putting things together in a collage type format. I'll always treasure these lovelies. Blessings to you dear one. ~ Abby

Oh Stephanie, I am so happy your grandpa is coming for a visit!... I am sure you have missed him terribly... grandpa's are such special blessings in our lives... there honestly is not a day goes by that I don't think of my own dear grandpa's and my great~grandpa... usually, something in my days stirs up an old memory and there go my thoughts... lost in daydreams of beautiful times spent with them as a little girl... be sure to give your grandpa an "extra" kiss... every time I had to say goodbye to my grandpa's and we had already hugged and kissed... I told them I had an "extra" kiss for them... I must have been about five years old when I started doing this... and it continued throughout our times together... your pillows for your friend are just adorable!... you are such a talented lady... wishing you a blissful September day... xoxo Julie Marie
