Lets talk pie. . .
I love pie - pretty much any kind of pie
and pie at Thanksgiving is always a must on my list.
Pumpkin pie is my favorite holiday dessert with lots of whipped cream,
but this pear pie comes pretty close to being up there with my favorite :)
What is your favorite Holiday dessert?

Sweet pears, cinnamon, sugar, butter, and oatmeal-
how can we go wrong with these ingredients?

Lets make some pie, sweet friends. . .

Pear Filling:

6 cups peeled and sliced ripe pears
1 tablespoon lemon juice
1/2 cup plus 3 tablespoons sugar, divided
2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
3/4 teaspoon cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg

Topping:

3/4 cup old-fashioned oats
1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
1/4 cup cold butter, cubed

Pastry for a single-crust pie shell { 9-inches }

In a large bowl, combine pears and lemon juice.
In another bowl, combine 1/2 cup sugar, flour, cinnamon, salt, and nutmeg.
Add to pears and stir gently.
Let stand for 15 minutes.

Line pie plate with pastry
and pour mixture into the pastry shell.

In a small bowl, combine oats, flour, and remaining sugar.
Cut in butter until crumbly.
Sprinkle over pears.
Bake at 400 degrees F for 45 - 50 minutes.
Cool for several hours before serving.

Enjoy, dear friends!

I'm thankful I have a good reason to wear elastic pants
this Thanksgiving! :)

First of all, Stephanie, thank you for popping by my Magnolia Cottage this morning and for the lovely comment you left me. I'm glad you stopped by, because your visit enabled me to find you. Your blog is absolutely beautiful, and I will definitely be visiting regularly.

I love pie too...all kinds. But I do think pumpkin is my favorite. This pear pie, though, looks scrumptious. I'm sure it could easily become a favorite. I will have to try it with my home-grown pears. (We have 3 pear trees).

Thanks again for introducing yourself. It's lovely to meet you, and I look forward to seeing you again soon.

Blessings,
Patti

Dear Stephanie, Oh my, you have just provided the perfect recipe for me to make my husband specially for Thanksgiving.....he will love this. He is a very choosy eater and this I know he will like a lot! Thank you!

Me? I like pumpkin pie with lots of whipped cream, too but he won't eat it so I don't think I will make this year.

Your music is so soothing here, I love your blog - hugs to you, friend, and have a blessed Thanksgiving with your loved ones. ♥
