Christmas Mug Pin Cushion

Oh, the delights of Christmas decorating!
Even your sewing/craft room needs a little Christmas love
and this pin cushion will brighten up your creative space.
Or it could be used to brighten up a friend's day
by giving it as a gift :)

Here is how I made this pretty pin cushion. . .

Items needed:

Christmas-y mug (smaller is better)
scrap fabric
batting
felt
embellishments
lace
sewing needle and thread
scissor
hot glue gun and glue
pins

Cut out a circle that is fairly larger than the mug.

Thread your needle and sew a running stitch along the edge of the fabric circle.

Fill the circle with batting and pull the thread tight; knot.

Hot glue a piece of felt over the opening.

Hot glue the lace to the inside of the mug.

Tuck your cushion into the mug-
it should be snug enough to fit inside without being glued down.

On the top of the cushion I added a pearl flower.

And on the front of the mug I glued on some pretty snowflakes.

Stay warm and cozy, beautiful friends, and have fun creating.
Love and blessings to you!

You made a real beauty out of that pretty red mug! And your photos... always such detail with your close ups. I really need to learn along side of you, dear.
That would be a real delight to anyone should you choose to give it away.

What a cute idea! My pins are all over the place and even when they are stuck down in my little "tomato", it rolls around all over. This is perfect idea to keep that from happening...I love it! Thanks for the inspiration, sweet and talented friend!

Hello dear Stephanie,
Your projects afoot remind me of Shabby Chic -but colorful.

Down since yesterday with a Miserable stomach aliment. Up all night. Ugh. But felt a little better, so took a stab at reading a good book. I wonder if you have read it: Does This Church Make Me Look Fat? Surprisingly compelling.

I can't stop staring at the cheery loveliness! I love this and want to get up right now and go look for scrap fabric to make one. I am awaiting finals being over so I can get into the crafting spirit :)
What beautiful touches you added to it, sweet friend. Your love for creativity and crafting, and the joy of this season, shine through in this beyond lovely mug pin cushion. We are going to the thrifty store in town soon and I want to look for a mug just for this :)

The only problem is that I think looking at such a pretty mug will make me want to drink hot-chocolate non-stop while I sew, hehe. That doesn't sound too bad actually.

I pray you are doing well and hope you had a beyond blessed Thanksgiving!
Love to you,
Jazzmin
