A Can Of Berries

Good day, dear ones!
It's raining. . .
and snowing. . .
so I thought I would share some happy, sweet color to brighten the day :)
This fun Spring project was inspired by two precious women.

The first is a blogging friend and her name is Celeste -
she blogs over at Southern DayDreams and is quite the talented artist.
A while ago Celeste shared on her blog a repurposed cappuccino container
that she had painted and added lace to - it was stunning!
She inspired me to make something similar
so I used a coffee can for my project.

The second lady that inspired me was my aunt-in-law :)
My husband's aunt sent us a thank you card in the mail
and the second I saw it I knew I had to keep it for a project.
With spring here it's the official time to begin planting
so I thought the card would look lovely on the coffee can filled with berries.
This coffee can makeover adds some happy spring and beauty to the home,
don't you think so, friends?

Supplies needed for the can. . .

coffee can
paint
paint brush
vintage image
lace
hot glue gun and glue

Apply two coats of paint to the coffee can.

Once the can has dried
wrap lace around it and apply hot glue to hold.

Add the vintage image to the can with hot glue
and decorate it as you so desire.

I added some yellow rose trim that my husband's aunt gave me.
She said she used some of it years ago on a dress she made -
she is an extremely talented seamstress.

The vintage safety pin holds a ribbon and key.

And a vintage button adds a pop of cuteness on the bottom.

Supplies needed for the strawberries. . .

small strawberries - 3.5-inch circles
large strawberries - 6-inch circles
thread
green paper flowers or felt for top
pearls, optional

Cut the circles in half.

Fold the half circle.
Sew along the straight fold.
With needle and thread sew a gathering stitch along the top edge.
Fill the berry with batting.
Pull the thread tightly and knot

Hot glue some paper green flowers to the top of the berries
or cut out a green top from felt.

Apply some pearls to the strawberries
for an extra sweet look.

I filled the can with some tissue paper
and added Spanish moss to the top part.

Happy crafting, sweet friends :)
Take an old coffee can and make it new
with some Spring inspiration.

Love, hugs, and blessings!

That is very nice,Stephanie. You did good. I love it.
It is rainy here today and 71 degrees, but the weather man says by the weekend it's going to be in the 30's again, just when I am getting use to warmer days!

Yay! Something I can link to for a "Berry Fun Friday" post! :-) Thank you! I'm very partial to strawberries and my kitchen is decorated with them, so I like to do a post on my blog that features them from time to time. I'll try to remember to let you know when I get it scheduled. This is great because it's also a sewing tutorial. :-) I've been working on some similar strawberries, but this method looks easier to me, in all honesty.

Hi Stephanie, I like your pretty berry basket and sweet strawberries. What a fun way to recycle a coffee can. The postcard has a neat vintage feel that adds a nice touch to your project. Wishing you a blessed day. Heather (P.S. Thank you for your kind and thoughtful comments on my blog; I appreciate you.) :-)

Hello sweet Stephanie! It is also raining here in South Africa at the moment, and there is a great deal of thunder and lightning overhead which prevents me from watching that movie I was hoping to... Thus, I thought I'd stop by your pretty blog for some inspiration:-)

Your can of berries is so cute, Stephanie. Celestina is such a talented artist with so many clever ideas. I loved the vintage key and ribbon. That really adds charm to it. These strawberries remind me of the raspberries that my husband planted in our garden on Sunday. I can't wait to taste them. Remember the days when we used to pick them from the fields and ate as many as we wanted? Those were the good ole days, my friend.

You did a nice job on this project, Stephanie. Have a sweet Wednesday afternoon.

The minute I saw your opening photo a big smile spread across my face, Stephanie. That was for 2 reasons - I am a berry nut (must have been a bear in a former life) and I thought to myself - oh my gosh, Stephanie has done it again! Who would have thought you would create something so special from a card image? Love your imagination, sweet friend!
