Shabby Burlap Bunting

Burlap and lace. . .
so shabby, rustic, pretty, and charming,
don't you think so, sweet friends?
You know me, I love lace
and I don't think it's possible to have too much of it :)

I decided my master bathroom needed some extra love
so I made a simple burlap and lace bunting
{pictures of the bathroom at the end of the post}.

Once I figured out how I wanted each piece of burlap to look
I whipped up the bunting in no time.
I used pre-cut burlap rectangles which I found at Hobby Lobby -
talk about convenient and less messy!
And of course I pulled out my stash of lace :)

The pretty purple flower that I used as my main focal point
was purchased at a sweet friend's Etsy Shop
I would encourage you to take a peek at Kelly's creations-
she is a very talented and beautiful lady!

Next I sewed on my lace. . .

Added a few vintage safety pins
and punched a hole in the corners for the lace that would hang the bunting.

I used a strand of vintage lace
and pulled it through the holes that I had punched out.

The same lace was also used to make a bow
and pretty pearls were added for a sweet touch.

Remember those lace and fabric flowers I made a few months ago?
If not than here is the link for the tutorial:
I used the lace ones and simply clipped them onto the lace strand.

The lovely flower from Kelly was attched with hot glue.

More pearls and more lace. . .simply divine :)

The bunting is now hanging above my mirror in the master bathroom.
I think it added a pretty bit of shabby. . .

And a touch of femininity.

Happy creating, sweet friends!
May you have a lovely day.

Oh! Simply elegant...and amazingly beautiful, dearest Stephanie! I am just blown away by your wonderful creativity!
This bunting is just perfect for making a bathroom pretty and I love the combination of lace, burlap and flowers! You must smile each time you walk into your bathroom and look at your creation!
Bunting is such a great way to cheer a home up...we have some in our kitchen, except my mother used triangular shapes of fabric...but I really like the rectangles as well!
I may just have to try some of my own...I will think very dearly of you the whole time I'm creating!
You certainly cheered me up with your lovely post today and inspired me so much!
Hope your week has been splendid!
Sending much love and hugs to you!

Hello Stephanie. You are SO CREATIVE. Pretty banner. And I LOVE the cranberry glass on the back of the "throne." Oh, aren't you afraid one could fall off and smash? I adore cranberry glass. It's my very favorite colored glass. Beautiful! Susan

As I commented on your FB page, I'm thinking of using your idea in 5" charm squares and lace and/or eyelet. I think my husband might like this better than the pennant style I was planning. He associates pennants with car sales. LOL

I really like your idea of putting one above the bathroom mirror.

The bunting is just beautiful and does add a touch of feminine charm. I especially like the two flowers on each end that seem to be holding the banner up. They really finish it off well.

it looks so lovely Stephanie...I tend to limit my lace around the cottage - my daughter and I are the minority and the male population tends to complain :-D mari

I love seeing each new piece that you create, Stephanie! This one reminds me of my Aunt Bonnie, she ADORES burlap and lace together. I'll have to show her this post next time I see her (she's not a big computer gal). Thanks for spreading joy once again!

Just the other day I saw a bunting very similar to this but without the lace ~ I think it used more floral patterns with the bunting. I much prefer the lace though. It's gorgeous!!

How wonderful this looks under your light fixture and accenting the mirror. Really dresses up the bathroom. I am very inspired to create one of these now.
I love the flower from talented Kelly too. It really adds a nice touch.

Oh yes my friend! Yes to bunting! My husband and I love watching Downton Abbey and we finished all the seasons about a month ago. It's "dangerous" for me to watch it because I start getting too many ideas for home and garden! Now I want a rose climber for the south side of our home, I've bought a silver tea set (thanks to the Dowager's beautiful set) and then the scene for Lady Mary's wedding where the villagers fix up the village with WHITE BUNTING! I have to make myself a few yards of it for my garden. But I am not sure how to go about it....do I make a hem for each triangle? Good gracious, I am not a seamstress but I want this bunting!

Your small project here looks manageable and perfect for your bath! ENJOY! Anita

This bunting is so sweet! I love the design and style that you chose- all the details are so lovely and feminine :)

Last night my mom, sis and I spent some time making the Cheery Posies that you shared about recently, and we had the best fun! I'll be sharing photos on my blog next week (and including a link to your beautiful post), but I just wanted to let you know that we really enjoyed the project! We decided that we want to make them in different fabric colors and patters according to the season, as that would add such a sweet touch to our home. Thank you for sharing that tutorial :) Hope you and your family have a beautiful and blessed weekend! Sending you love and hugs!

That looks just darling above the mirror! I used to work at JoAnn Fabrics and have cut A LOT of burlap, especially with the recent rustic wedding trend. I wish we had sold some precut. I'm sure many customers and employees would have been very grateful for it!
Again, lovely post and project!
Have a wonderful weekend!
