God Called Him Home. . .

Hello, friends!
As many of you know my family and I headed out to Arizona on Saturday
to see my precious Grandpa Don who was in the hospital
because of open-heart/bypass surgery.
My husband, son, and I spent Sunday and Monday with Grandpa.
I held his hand and whispered in his ear that I love him. . .I love him so much!
He squeezed my hand and looked into my eyes -
I could feel his love shining through.
As I sat by his side the memories flooded my mind and heart. . .

I could see Grandpa calling me to his side asking for hugs and kisses,
he took me to baseball games and we ate hot dogs.
Grandpa loved music especially old country and 50's music
and often he would sit on an old stool for hours
recording music for family and friends.
Grandpa was always so full of life -
if someone told him he couldn't do something
he proved them wrong and did it!
He was full of love and always had time for his family - family was his life.
He had many children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren
and each one was important and special to him.
He had the best laugh, the brightest smile, and the greatest stories
{ I will miss those stories }
He loved old cars and as a young girl I remember riding around in many of them -
I always felt so lucky and special :)
Anyone who met Grandpa always fell in love with him.
Grandpa Don was extraordinary.

Due to complications. . .
Grandpa Don passed away this morning at 3:30.
He is now home with his heavenly Father - free of pain.

My friends, how I appreciate each one of you.
Your love and support and especially your prayers meant SO MUCH
to my family and me.
We told Grandpa he had people praying for him from all around the world.
Thank you for blessing not only us, but him.

He is gone and I will not lie. . .there is a hole in my heart
and the hearts of his family - the pain is great.
Yes, he is with Jesus and we would want nothing else for him,
but we miss him. . .oh how we miss him!

May I ask, dear friends, that if you think about the family
please pray for them.
Please pray for Grandma Dee Ann as she has a lot of decisions to make.
Thank you. . .thank you from the bottom of my heart.

I am still away and will write again when I return home.
My love to you!

Oh, Stephanie! Too many losses too soon. But our gracious Father will hold your family close and give you peace. I'm sorry I didn't know about the surgery. That's one drawback of blogging only once a week. :( Praying God's comfort during this difficult time.

Sharing this with you...It was shared with me when my father passed...

Gone From My Sight
by Henry Van Dyke

I am standing upon the seashore. A ship, at my side,
spreads her white sails to the moving breeze and starts
for the blue ocean. She is an object of beauty and strength.
I stand and watch her until, at length, she hangs like a speck
of white cloud just where the sea and sky come to mingle with each other.

Then, someone at my side says, "There, she is gone"

Gone where?

Gone from my sight. That is all. She is just as large in mast,
hull and spar as she was when she left my side.
And, she is just as able to bear her load of living freight to her destined port.

Her diminished size is in me -- not in her.
And, just at the moment when someone says, "There, she is gone,"
there are other eyes watching her coming, and other voices
ready to take up the glad shout, "Here she comes!"

And that is dying...

My heart is broken for you and your family, Stephanie! Give your mom a hug for me, okay? We are promised to live eternally with our Savior, and that is where we will rejoice on high with our loved ones who have gone before us.

Standing on the promises of Christ my King,
Through eternal ages let His praises ring,
Glory in the highest, I will shout and sing,
Standing on the promises of God.

Standing, standing,
Standing on the promises of God my Savior;
Standing, standing,
I’m standing on the promises of God.

Standing on the promises that cannot fail,
When the howling storms of doubt and fear assail,
By the living Word of God I shall prevail,
Standing on the promises of God.

Standing on the promises I now can see
Perfect, present cleansing in the blood for me;
Standing in the liberty where Christ makes free,
Standing on the promises of God.

Standing on the promises of Christ the Lord,
Bound to Him eternally by love’s strong cord,
Overcoming daily with the Spirit’s sword,
Standing on the promises of God.

Standing on the promises I cannot fall,
Listening every moment to the Spirit’s call
Resting in my Savior as my all in all,
Standing on the promises of God.

My dear Stephanie, I'm so sorry to hear this sad news today. Your beloved Grandpa is no longer in pain or suffering, my friend. I'm sure you were such a special person in his life, as you are such a gift to all of us.

My sincere thoughts are with you today, dear Stephanie.

This is for you:

The angels weep in sympathy
For your loved one who has died
But God says, "wipe away those tears,
Your beloved's by my side."
