Embroidery Hoop Mobile

Happy day, lovelies!
Are you ready to do a little hand sewing?
Grab a cup of tea or coffee, some scrap fabric, and enjoy a little downtime.
A few weeks ago I had some quiet time and made this pretty shabby mobile.
I would love to show it to you. . .

I cut out some heart and bird shapes
and the third fabric I used had a pretty rose and lace design
so I simply cut out a circle.
If you don't have similar fabric than you could cut out a flower shape.

I hand sewed each shape and filled with batting.

Then, I attached a safety pin to a strip of lace
and pulled it through each shape.
I knotted the lace at the end so the shapes didn't slip off.

I used a doily with a scalloped edge
and placed it in the embroidery hoop.
Then, I tied the strips of lace to the doily.

I also added a few fun lightweight metal pieces to the mobile.

And pearls were strung from the middle of the hoop.

Pretty, enjoyable, and easy. . .it can't get much better than that :)

I hung my mobile in the corner of my craft room
right above my piano.
The collection of dolls belonged to my Grandma Betty and Grandma Dee.

As you can see, I tied on four strips of lace to the top part of the doily
and then tied all four strips together so that the mobile would hang from the ceiling.

Blessings to you, dear friends!
I greatly appreciate your comments and visits.

This sweet mobile is just lovely! I simply adore the fabric with the aqua lace and pink roses. Do you know the name of the designer? If not, do you still have a selvage edge that has it printed on. I would like to order some to have in my stash...:) The mobile looks perfect hanging above your piano along with the other pretties you have displayed. I always enjoy seeing what you will create next. Have a wonderful day my friend!

I can see an entire little girls nursery being designed around it :)
It would make the perfect baby shower gift.
Have a lovely week and happy sewing.
