Leaning On The Everlasting Arms

The eternal God is thy refuge,
and underneath are the everlasting arms:
and he shall thrust out the enemy from before thee;
and shall say, Destroy them.
- Deuteronomy 33:27 -

What a fellowship, what a joy divine,
leaning on the everlasting arms;
what a blessedness, what a peace is mine,
leaning on the everlasting arms.

O how sweet to walk in this pilgrim way,
leaning on the everlasting arms;
O how bright the path grows from day to day,
leaning on the everlasting arms.

What have I to dread, what have I to fear,
leaning on the everlasting arms?
I have blessed peace with my Lord so near,
leaning on the everlasting arms.

Chorus
Leaning, leaning,
safe and secure from all alarms;
leaning, leaning,
leaning on the everlasting arms.
- Elisha A. Hoffman -

Be merciful unto me, O God, be merciful unto me:
for my soul trusteth in thee:
yea, in the shadow of thy wings will I make my refuge,
until these calamities be overpast.
- Psalm 57:1 -

I will say of the LORD,
he is my refuge and fortress:
my God; in him will I trust.
- Psalm 91: 2 -

Blessings and joy to you on this beautiful Sunday!

These lovely flower pictures were taken at my mom's house. . .

while I have a way of making my blooms die. . .sad, I know :)
A big thanks to her for letting me snap some pictures.

Oh Stephanie...isn't this truly one of the loveliest hymns...? Once again, dear friend, my heart has been blessed and encouraged through your beautiful Sunday post! I love hymns, and how sad that are not popular anymore...yet the words are so rich and uplifting!
And oh! How pretty these petunias are...I love the colours! Your mom must have a gorgeous garden...smiles...
Blessings and hugs to you...have a wonderful Lord's Day praising His name!
Today it is pouring with lovely rain for which we are truly thankful...so pancakes are on the menu for lunch...hmmm...my favourite!
Love and joy!

Oh, good morning, dear Stephanie! What a precious hymn indeed and one I remember well singing often when I was younger (before the many contemporary hymns). What precious words indeed that encourage us to lean into His everlasting and comforting arms. Often at night when I'm struggling with feeling some pain, I remind myself that He is with me at that very moment and I imagine that He is saying, "rest in my, precious child!" And then I can almost picture myself held in His mighty and tender arms as our Shepherd would hold a lamb. Such great peace that only God can give us! What beautiful flowers, and I'm so glad to see them along with the beautiful verse from Deuteronomy. Yes, no matter what, God is our refuge and we can rest in His everlasting arms! Praise God! Thank you, dear friend, for today's beautiful post! Hugs!

What a precious post! I love that song, and over the course of the past few years, I have truly learned what it means to lean on those everlasting arms. Deuteronomy 33:27 is one of my favorite Bible verses...the eternal God is thy refuge, and underneath are the everlasting arms. What would do without Him and His comforting support? So thankful to get this sweet encouragement in my inbox today! Much love to you, my friend. :)

Why you beat all my dear! :-)
How you make your photos pop is amazing to me!
I've been taking pictures of those all summer and mine look nothing at all like yours. Lovely.

Remember singing that hymn in church and leaning into your neighbor in the pew? The young ones loved doing that.:-)
I love this hymn especially for the meaning and reminder of God's everlasting love for which He carries us. We can know that we are safe and secure in Him, for His Word tells us so.

I look forward to your Sunday post because I know my heart will be enriched and blessed.
Thank you, for allowing God to use you to encourage others.

Much love~ Mom

There are some hymns that are "forever" in my heart. This is one of them.
And isn't it a blessing to know we are leaning on His everlasting arms. Yes. Thank you, Lord. Thank you....

Such beautiful flowers from your mom's garden. Your posts are so full of beauty every time. Leaning on Jesus is all we can do during the rough times, but He is always there and holds us close until we gain enough strength from Him to go on. Your comment on Shaz's post was so sweet. You and your mom are a great inspiration to me and as you can tell, I love the old songs. The words are such a blessing. Thanks for sharing and one day we will get to meet and talk in heaven at the wedding supper of the Lamb. Hugs!
