Not What These Hands Have Done

Not by works of righteousness which we have done,
but according to his mercy he saved us,
by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost;
which he shed on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Savior.
- Titus 3:5, 6 -

Not what these hands have done
Can save this guilty soul;
Not what this toiling flesh has borne
Can make my spirit whole.

Not what I feel or do
Can give me peace with God;
Not all my prayers and sighs and tears
Can bear my awful load.

Thy work alone O Christ,
Can ease this weight of sin;
Thy blood alone, O Lamb of God,
Can give me peace within.

Thy love to me, O God-
Not my poor love to Thee-
Can rid me of this dark unrest
And set my spirit free.

Thy grace alone, O God,
To me can pardon speak;
Thy pow'r alone, O Son of God,
Can this sore bondage break.

I bless the Christ of God,
I rest on love divine;
And with unfalt'ring lip and heart
I call this Savior mine!
- Horatius Bonar -

Not Till Then
When this passing world is done,
When has sunk yon glowing sun,
When we stand with Christ in glory,
Looking o'er life's finished story,
Then, Lord, shall I full know -
Not till then - how much I owe.
- Robert McCheyne -

Precious friends,
have a beautiful and restful Lord's Day!

God's Blessings to you on this Sunday, too! What a wonderful scripture... Knowing there are no good works we must do.... All we must do is accept & receive Him in!

Thank you! Net :)

Dearest Stephanie, what a beautiful post today, this Lord's Day! What precious words from Horatius Bonar of the truths of Scripture that it's through God's grace alone we are saved through Christ, as shown in Titus 3:5,6. We are so deeply blessed by God's graciousness to us...and nothing we do is enough, but for what Christ has done for us alone. So often we do and forget to rest in His grace, not our efforts. While we are called to good works, the Best Work has been done, praise God! What stunning flowers! I love the colors and even the last one with the bee seeking the sweetness of the flower. May we desire the sweet Word of God more each day. Hugs, sweet friend!

This was a beautiful reminder, dear Stephanie, that it is ALL God.
Often times we forget the grace of God, and it is only through Him and His love for us that we are what we are.
It is not what our hands have done or can do, it is all what Christ has done that makes us whole, but often times we seek and do on our own to no avail.
Oh Thy work alone, Thy grace, O God, and Thy love to me, is where my soul finds the peace it longs for.

My heart was blessed this morning Stephanie, with your lovely post.

May you rest in the Lord today.
Love you ~ Mom

I have just been outside most of the day, the first really nice day of spring that we have had. New growth all over and the grass getting too long :) but no doubt we'll get it mowed tomorrow. Yes all the new growth is thanks to God and we don't always remember that.
Have a lovely day,

Diana
