Do-It-Yourself Centerpieces For The Spring Season

A little while ago I was contacted by Modernize.com
and they wondered if they could share a post with my readers.
Of course I said yes :)
I am very thankful for Modernize.com and their team -
they did a beautiful job and I hope you enjoy their lovely ideas.

Do-It-Yourself Centerpieces For The Spring Season
Now that Spring has finally sprung,
it's time for all those seasonal precursors to the coming of summer.
It’s the time of year for an organizational overhaul, for Spring cleaning
and giving everything a freshening up, and of course for Spring decor.
While there are a number of simple ways to incorporate a Spring look throughout your home,
one of the areas where you can be creative and crafty is in making centerpieces
for a dining room or other large table.
Check out some of these great do-it-yourself centerpieces
that will help you to bring Spring indoors this season.

Springtime Flowerpot

Via All You

This is a craft that’s doable by even the least artsy of us
and will add a charm that’s both modern and somewhat rustic.
You’ll need a flowerpot that’s about 4 to 5 inches in diameter—preferably white,
but you can buy any color if you don’t mind painting it—as well as 4-inch blades of cut grass,
a foam floral sphere, scissors, glue lines or some other similar adhesive,
and one to two dozen daisies or another flower of your choice.
The grass is attached to the bottom of the flowerpot exterior
to look as though it’s growing up and around it.
Soak the floral sphere in water, then drain and position snugly inside the flowerpot.
Finally, trim flower stems to a little more than an inch and insert into the floral sphere
so that the flowers hide the entire sphere.
While the picture is shown with live grass and flowers,
you could also use artificial greenery and flowers
if you would prefer to create a centerpiece that can be reused next Spring.

Floating Fruit Centerpiece

If you’d prefer something that’s a little less crafty yet just as effective,
you might try this lovely floating fruit centerpiece.
In the picture above, three large glass vases were filled to varying heights with water
and apples were added for a fresh and fun look.
This is a simple and elegant centerpiece that achieves something of a still life look.
You might also try putting a different colored set of apples into each vase
to make this look a little more playful.

Sweet Peas and Cabbages

A variant of the traditional floral centerpiece,
the sweet peas have rich purple tones that are perfectly matched and complemented by the cabbages.
To achieve this look, you simply hollow out a couple cabbages
so they’ll hold a small Mason jar or another small cup, put some water in it for the flowers,
and you’ve got a monochromatic purple centerpiece that pretty much screams Spring.

Citric Drama

One of the greatest things about the Spring season is the promise of fresh fruits,
which can look very at home when paired together in a beautiful bowl as a centerpiece.
To make it more compelling, you could pair shiny smooth objects
such as lemons with smaller textured and dark objects like nuts to create a dynamic arrangement.
Using a glass pedestal bowl for added drama and incorporating a little greenery
gives the centerpiece a finishing touch.

Cleanse Me

If we confess our sins,
he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins,
and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
- 1 John 1:9 -

Search me, O God, and know my heart today;
Try me, my Savior, know my thoughts, I pray.
See if there be some wicked way in me;
Cleanse me from every sin and set me free.

I praise Thee, Lord, for cleansing me from sin;
Fulfill Thy Word and make me pure within.
Fill me with fire where once I burned with shame;
Grant my desire to magnify Thy name.

Lord, take my life and make it wholly Thine;
Fill my poor heart with Thy great love divine.
Take all my will, my passion, self, and pride;
I now surrender, Lord - in me abide.

O Holy Ghost, revival comes from Thee;
Send a revival - start the work in me.
Thy Word declares Thou wilt supply our need;
For blessings now, O Lord, I humbly plead.
- J. Edwin Orr -

"Cleanse Me" was written in 1936 after a stirring Easter convention
in Ngaruawahia, New Zealand.
Fervent meetings sprang up throughout the city.
Inspired by this intense movement of the Holy Spirit,
Dr. Orr took time as he left New Zealand to write the verses of "Cleanse Me"
on the back of an envelope in the Post Office.
In following campaigns in Australia and other parts of the world,
Dr. Orr often used this hymn to encourage new spiritual awakenings.
His ceaseless prayer was that the people of God would be stirred to pray
for yet another worldwide awakening.
{ From Amazing Grace by Kenneth W. Osbeck }

Purge me with hyssop, and I shall be clean:
wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow.
Make me to hear joy and gladness;
that the bones which thou hast broken may rejoice.
Hide thy face from my sins,
and blot out all mine iniquities.
Create in me a clean heart, O God;
and renew a right spirit within me.
- Psalm 51: 7 - 10 -

Search me, O God, and know my heart:
try me, and know my thoughts:
And see if there be any wicked way in me,
and lead me in the way everlasting.
- Psalm 139: 23, 24 -

Have a joyous and blessed Lord's Day!
Hugs to you, dear friends!

Bee Mug And A Yo-Yo Cozy

Hello sweet friends!
It's a beeautiful day, isn't it? :)
Did you know that May Day will be here in a little over a week?
I know for May Day baskets of flowers are usually given
and left at the door {anonymously} for someone special to find.
Why not think outside of the box. . .
and give a little mug gift set with a pretty doily flower :)
Set this sweet mug at someones door for a delightful surprise.

The cheerful yellow mug is in the shape of a beehive
which is perfect for a bee theme gift.

I filled the mug with tissue paper
and then added Camomile, Honey and Vanilla Tea.
I also slipped in some Burt's Bees lip balm and lip shimmer.

I thought this saying "Be Yourself"
was perfect for the bee theme so I applied it to a white paper doily.

I attached a fabric-wrapped wire stem to the back of the doily
which created a sweet little flower :)

Here is the back of the doily. . .

Have you seen those pretty knitted/crocheted mug cozies?
Well, I think they are simply lovely, but . . . I can't knit. . . or crochet
so I made a mug cozy out of fabric yo-yo's.

I used eight fabric yo-yo's to create the cozy.

And added some snap buttons to attach the ends together.

A simple, thoughtful, and beeautiful gift for someone special :)

Enjoy your day and Be Yourself. . . you are lovely!

I thoroughly enjoy seeing the unique inspiration that you share from your blog

Lord-willing, I will the problem resolved as soon as possible
since one of the joys about this party is leaving each one of you comments :)

Again, thank you for sharing with Roses of Inspiration.

The Great Creator

All things were made by him;
and without him was not anything made that was made.
- John 1:3 -

Thou art worthy, O Lord,
to receive glory and honour and power:
for thou hast created all things,
and for thy pleasure they are and were created.
- Revelation 4:11 -

How I praise the great Creator,
Who did make this world so fair;
As I scan the realm of nature
I can see His image there.

In the steep and on the hill-top,
There I find His royal throne;
And the God who made the mountain
Ever loves me as His own.

Tiny bud and lovely flower,
All the fragrant bloom of spring,
Show the sweetness and the beauty
Of my Sov'reign and my King.

Bubbling spring and swirling river,
Lapping lake and tossing sea,
All declare the might and greatness
Of the One who cares for me.

How I praise the great Creator,
Who did make this world so fair;
For I too am His creation,
And I love Him for His care.
- David George Ball -

Praise ye him, all his angels: praise ye him, all his hosts.
Praise ye him, sun and moon: praise him, all ye stars of light.
Praise him, ye heavens of heavens, and ye waters that be above the heavens.
Let them praise the name of the LORD:
for he commanded, and they were created.
- Psalm 148: 2-5 -

When I consider thy heavens, the work of thy fingers,
the moon and the stars, which thou hast ordained;
What is man, that thou art mindful of him?
and the son of man, that thou visitest him?
For thou hast made him a little lower than the angels,
and hast crowned him with glory and honour.
Thou madest him to have dominion over the works of thy hands;
thou hast put all things under his feet:
All sheep and oxen, yea, and the beasts of the field;
The fowl of the air, and the fish of the sea,
and whatsoever passeth through the paths of the seas.
- Psalm 8: 3-8 -

For thus saith the LORD that created the heavens;
God himself that formed the earth and made it;
he hath established it, he created it not in vain,
he formed it to be inhabited:
I am the LORD; and there is none else.
- Isaiah 45:18 -

Have a beautiful and blessed Lord's Day, dear friends!
