Tea Bag Holders . . . And A Giveaway

A cup of tea
makes everything better.

Happy day, sweet friends!
Did you know that January is the National Hot Tea month?
Why yes, yes it is :)
And in honor of hot tea I thought I would show you
how I make my tea bag holders.
These little holders are perfect for carrying tea bags in
and they are great for taking with your wherever you go.

If you're not into tea than you can use these holders
for gift cards, credit cards, or money.
With the layers of pockets inside they can be used for many things.

Supplies Needed:

fabric
ribbon
lace
embellishments {optional}

Cut two pieces of fabric that are 4 1/2 x 6 1/2-inches in size.

Use a larger piece of lace for the bottom pocket
and a smaller width for the top pocket.

Sew the two pieces of lace onto the bottom edge
of the bottom piece of fabric.

Fold the piece of fabric in half and press with an iron
in order to make a crease down the center.
Sew along the crease to create two pockets on each side.

Pin on two ties and
leave room at the end for the sewing machine.

Pin the fabric right sides together
and sew along the edges leaving a small opening
for turning the holder right side out.
Trim the corners.

When your holder has been turned right side out
press with a hot iron and finish it off by top stitching the edges
{this will also take care of the small opening}.

And this is what you should have. . .

Embellish the front however you desire.
I added a shabby rose and a crown button.

Fill the holder with your favorite tea.
The holder should fit up to four bags.

First, I shall have
a cup of tea.

Women are like tea bags. . .
you never know how strong they are
until they're in hot water.
- Eleanor Roosevelt -

Now I have a little surprise for you. . .
I am giving the tea bag holder away along with another one that I made.

If you are interested in joining the giveaway
simply leave me a comment telling me what kind of tea you enjoy.

I will announce the winner on Tuesday.

Love and hugs to you, friends!

Hi Stephanie, what a lovely idea for a tea lover's gift. Great for a stocking filler or someone who is on the road a lot and has to have the plain teas when out and about. I know a lot of people who go to cafes and just ask for hot water for their own tea bags. As to my favourite, it has to be Lady Grey, or Earl Grey. Have a lovely day. Chel xx

These are adorable! I also am always bringing little packs of Stevia with me when I go out to eat or to other people's home. This would be perfect for that too! Such a talented lady! Have a great day.

I forgot to enter the give away!! My favorite tea varies. I think my all time favorite is simply Earl Grey.

I love, love, love tea! I have an entire board on Pinterest dedicated to tea. My morning does not start without tea. My favorite kinds of tea are probably loose leaf breakfast teas--Irish breakfast, English breakfast. Twinings Earl Grey is also fantastic for an afternoon tea.

Another favorite tea of mine is Harney & Sons loose leaf Paris blend. It is the most pleasant, luxurious afternoon tea and is typically enjoyed by non-tea-drinkers. :)

Stephanie, your little tea holders are so perfect and beautiful! You wouldn't by any chance have an online etsy store or something to that effect where you sell your crafts? You are so creative!

Happy Thursday!

Hi Stephanie,

I'm finally getting around to visit my friends...it's been a while. I've got several of my chores done this morning...like using my snowblower to get rid of the snow we got lastnight. It's so much easier than shoveling!! I'm so glad I made that purchase this past summer.

I love tea. I drink loose tea {a berry blend} and I love Bigelow Lemon Ginger Tea and their Green Tea with Lemon...and a new one I discovered that I like is Yogi Cranberry Spice Berry Tea.

Your Tea bag holders are so pretty.

Hope you're doing well...I am!! ♥

Hugs,

Since I'm already the happy recipient of one of your lovely teabag holders, please don't enter me in your sweet giveaway, my friend. However, my favorite morning tea is Irish Breakfast, and in the afternoon, I like flavored teas, such as chai, vanilla, seasonal blends, etc. In the evening, I fix a cup of Sleepytime Vanilla, or some herbal tea, which I drink while taking a bath!
Happy creating, Stephanie! xxoo

Oh Stephanie! You know I received two lovely tea bag holders from you back in the autumn, and how I am enjoying them so much!! They are just beautiful, and how sweet of you to share how you create them! What a fun project!!

I've been picking up sewing again (it's been too long!) and have been having loads of fun making several different creations :) After I get reacquainted with sewing, I may just have to try making one of these lovely holders. They are such a creative idea!!

And how fun that January is National Hot Tea Month...I didn't know that!! But I guess, that's just another good excuse to enjoy some steaming hot tea!

Wishing you a beautiful upcoming weekend! Sending much love always!

Just beautiful, Stephanie. I'm liking the idea of keeping one in my purse, but maybe for other items as well. Looks like I need to go shopping at your etsy Shoppe since I don't really sew. :-)
I love black currant tea (very hard to find) and just discovered I love that red bark tea which is almost impossible to find in my neck of the woods.
You know you do not have to enter me in the draw. I enjoy watching the excitement of other winners and you grace me with your lovelies all the time.

Love you~ Mom

Oh, how wonderful!!! I just LOVE these. I love every, single thing you make. The love of Jesus just shines forth in all you do, and you are a precious, dear encouragement to us all. I love all kinds of tea, but I think my all-time favorite is peppermint flavored. The last 8 months of my dear mother's life were filled with lots of cups of tea shared together. For some reason, during that time, we were both on a trend of liking peppermint, and after Jesus called her home, I held on to what was left of her box of peppermint tea for I don't know how long. Every time I smell peppermint or drink peppermint tea or even use the peppermint liquid soap from Bath & Body Works, I think of dear Mom. So, peppermint will always be my favorite forever. Thank you for the chance to win your beautiful creation and for being such a dear blessing in my life, sweet Stephanie! God bless you abundantly. :)

What?! These are ADORABLE! I didn't know it was National Hot Tea month -- I actually am a coffee drinker BUT in recent years have grown to love tea, especially loose-leaf. We have a few tea shops around here where you can sample before you buy. I now have a drawer in my kitchen devoted to my teas :) I love the white teas but I have to say my favorite is lavender tea. I love lavender in anything but as a tea -- it's divine!

Hot tea month! Love it... I drink hot tea all year long, but January is the perfect month for drinking hot tea, for sure! And your darling tea bag holders are just as beautiful as they are handy! And so sweet of you to share how to make them, and then to offer them up for a giveaway! Such a sweet beautiful heart you have, dear Stephanie... and appreciated so much! I am a green tea drinker, drinking several cups in the evening. Right now a Tazo green tea with mint is one that I am enjoying. I have also tried a new flavor, chocolate with orange, and I find I really like it too. So many flavors to choose from, it is hard to narrow down a choice!

Thanks again for your generosity, you are a precious and treasured friend!

Absolutely love these!! I'm a big tea drinker and we travel a lot so I always carry tea bags with me. love this idea. :-) My favorite tea is anything from Twinnings or Tazo, but I enjoy many other flavored teas as well. Kindest greetings,
Deidre

I found you through the Strangers & Pilgrims on Earth linky party and wanted to tell you how sweet these tea bag holders are. My daughter is a huge tea drinker and would be so pleased to have one. Thank you for sharing your tutorial.
