May You Have A Blessed Mother's Day!

Whether you're a mother, a daughter, a sister,
a wife, a grandmother, an aunt, or a friend,
may this day be extra beautiful and special for you.
Let us celebrate in quiet gratitude that we are women of God.

Take time to simply be. . .
relax and enjoy.

I hope the words and photos that I share today
refresh your soul and bless your heart.

First of all,
I think we should start things off right by enjoying a hot beverage.
Please, let me pour you a cup of tea. . .

And what is tea without a sweet treat?
Would you like a delicate lemon bar to go along with your tea?

Now relax, be still, and enjoy,
dear mothers, daughters, women of all ages. . .
In the midst of many duties and distractions
it is rather difficult to find quiet time and rest.
Take a deep breath and simply be still.

Slow me down, Lord!
Ease the pounding in my heart by the quieting of my mind!
Steady my hurried pace with a vision of the eternal reach of time!
Give me, amidst the confusion of my day,
the calmness of the everlasting hills.
Break the tension of my nerves and muscles
with the soothing music of the singing streams.
Help me know the magical, restorative power of Thy touch.
Teach me the art of taking minute vacations,
slowing down to look at a flower, to chat with a friend, to pat a dog.
Remind me each day of the hare and the tortoise,
so that I may know that the race is not always to the swift,
there is more in life than increasing speed.
Let me look upward into the branches of the towering oak,
And know that it grew great because it grew slowly and well.
Slow me down, Lord!
Inspire me to send my roots deep into the soil of life's enduring values.
Amen.

My precious mom loves to sing.
Ever since I was a young girl my mom would sing when she was working in the home.
She often woke me up in the mornings with a new song and
she has always had a habit of creating her own songs. . .
some good and some. . .well, some were quite unique.

To me, singing praises unto the Lord is quite beautiful and honoring.
It's also a perfect thing to do while enjoying a quiet and relaxing moment in the day.
We don't have to verbally sing, but our hearts can sing and praise our Heavenly Father.
A song can put a smile upon our faces, a skip in our step,
and bring joy to our weary souls.

. . . Sing A Song . . .

When you are tired and weary,
With the daily cares of life,
And you feel need of something
To help you win the strife.
Just sing a song!

When loved ones have left you - lonely
You wander, sad and distressed,
When heaven to you seems distant,
Don't feel, my Friend, depressed,
But sing a song!

When the peace of God is upon you,
The joy of salvation is real;
Let the world know of your blessings,
Their thrill be glad to reveal.
O sing a song!

Perchance, when you meet someone,
Someone in need of God's love,
Point him to Jesus, the Saviour,
Point him to heaven above.
And sing a song!

When you behold God's creation
And you feel to adore the Most High,
O praise Him in exaltation,
Our Maker who lives in the sky.
Praise Him in song!

Then when at last we will meet Him,
When the Lord shall gather His own,
We will sing in sweet adoration
With million's around the great throne.
Heaven's sweet song!
- Ethel Davis -

My dear friends,
may we sing while we work and while we rest,
when we are happy and when we are sad,
let us sing in the morning and at night.

Take a few moments out of your day
and be still, be quiet, be at peace. . .
and sing a sweet song.

Mother's Day blessings to you.
May this Mother's day be filled with joy and sweet gladness.

Love and hugs to you!

I loved everything about this post, dear Stephanie! And what a much-needed reminder that we all need to just be still sometimes ♥ Such a beautiful post :)

I loved that you mentioned that your mother loves to sing...my mom is the exact same way, and she, too, has come up some rather interesting songs of her own! I don't think that they'd win any awards, but they are part of her, nonetheless {{winks}} It certainly does make for some fun and unique childhood stories to tell!

I hope you enjoy a lovely break and get some time to just be still and come back refreshed and renewed!! We will be awaiting your return, but you just enjoy your time away. I also wish you a wonderful and blessed Mother's Day! Hope you get to enjoy some fun with your family this weekend ♥

Wishing you a lovely weekend and sending much love,
Libby

I know you'll have a wonderful Mother's Day Stephanie. I enjoyed this post so much. The tea and lemon bar look wonderful, and make me want to whip up some lemon bars myself! My mother used to sing all the time too, and I will always remember her singing hymns as she did the housework. Those are the hymns that I will never forget. I have a friend whose mother would yodel (yes! you heard me!) when she did the housework. I'm glad my mom sang the hymns ;)

Enjoy your time away from blogging ... something we all need to do every so often.

Beautiful post!!! Our ladies bible study is doing a book called becoming a woman of simplicity, it has been a very good study, and the chapter I am doing right now is about taking that time out to just be quiet and listen to the Lord, such a sense of calm and peace when you just sit quietly before him and don't think of anything, but listening to what He wants to say.
wishing you the most loveliest of Mother's day, hope your guys spoil you rotten :) Enjoy your time from blogging too! HUGS

Dearest Stephanie,

It is good to take a blog break. I have been taking one for a long time without meaning to; I just have not been able to blog.

What a wonderful mother you have. I love that she woke you with a song.

I used to wake my children with this Bible verse: "Arise, shine; for thy light is come, and the glory of the Lord is risen upon thee." (Isaiah 60:1)

Enjoy your time with your family.

Happy Mother's Day!

Stephanie, I am just in wonder when I see your special pictures. These are very nice. It's a lot of work taking pictures of things inside (there are the props you have to use and the lighting), and that's why I love taking pictures of nature. God has given us the light. Now, are these your Yummy lemon bars? The "Be Still" verse is one of my very favorites. How pretty are these pictures today, Stephanie. And I want to wish the Happiest Mother's Day to a sweet, gentle, loving, kind, and wonderful woman. I'm going to brunch today with my son and got special gifts from the kids.

love, ~Sheri

I hope you are having a wonderful Mother's Day, and a wonderful rest from blogging. I sing mostly in my car to a wonderful CD that a friend and his wife just released. It is a wonderful collection of real life songs by him praising God. I try other CD's but always go back to the praise songs on this CD. Looking forward to when you return!
