A Prairie Rose Sewing Creation

Happy day
to each one of you!
I hope my American friends
had a blessed and memorable 4th of July.
I would love to hear what you did.
As for my family and me. . .
we enjoyed a picnic at our church along with a delightful baseball game.

* * * * * * * * * * *

It's with much excitement and joy
that I'm going to share this beautiful dress with you.

This sweet floral print dress was handmade by my dear friend Sarah.
Sarah is a fellow Sister in Christ
and the Lord brought us together through my blog.
You see, a couple of years ago Sarah found my blog
and sent me one of the sweetest emails letting me know she was following along.
From there we began corresponding via email and before we knew it
our acquaintance had blossomed into a precious friendship.
Though we have never met face-to-face
{Lord-willing that will happen one day}
I would consider Sarah to be one of my dearest friends.
She loves the Lord with all of her heart
and that love pours out onto her friends.
She encourages me in my walk with the Lord
and her sweet humor always brings a smile to my face.

Sarah is also very talented with her sewing abilities. . .
the Lord has given her a gift
and it's a joy to see her using that gift to bless others.
She has an Etsy shop where she sells a handful of delightful items
such as vintage books, handmade bags, quilts, and nursing shawls,
as well as modest clothing.
Sarah has been known to make lovely dresses, shirts, night gowns, skirts, and more.

I have always admired her handiwork
and one day while visiting our local thrifty shop
I came across some fabric. . .about 7-8 yards worth for only $4.00!
Of course I had to get it {{smiles}}
The question was what in the world was I going to do with all of the fabric?!
I decided to ask Sarah if she could custom-make a dress for me
and the dear girl said, "Yes!"
Oh, I was thrilled :)
She asked for my measurements which I "happily" gave her
and then I sent the fabric off to her home.

A few months later a sweet bundle of loveliness arrived at my Post Office-
it was the DRESS!
I couldn't wait to get home and try it on.
The fit, the cut, the style was all perfect!

Sarah did a phenomenal job at creating the dress I had envisioned in my mind.
She took the time to make sure everything,
and I mean everything,
was simply perfect.

The original pattern for the dress had sleeves on it,
but I asked her if she could make it sleeveless
because I always wear a cardigan with my dresses.
And of course being such a sweetheart she did just as I requested.

I also wanted the length of the dress
to hit at the middle of my calves
and of course Sarah got it just right :)

{don't mind my flip flop suntan line}

Not only was the outside of the dress exquisite,
but the inside {where no one sees} was just as lovely.

If you are looking for feminine and elegant clothing
than I would highly recommend Sarah and her Etsy shop.
She does take custom orders and I can't say this enough,
she does an amazing and thorough job
and her workmanship is flawless.

Sarah's Etsy shop is called
Stop by and see if something catches your eye,
or send her a message on Etsy if you are interested in a custom order.

Love the material, dress design and exquisite workmanship. I think what really stands out Stephanie are the red buttons and pairing the perfect red cardigan with your new dress.
The dress length is where I prefer mine too and you look sweet modelling for us. :-)

Heading over to check it out. I don't like sleeveless dresses, but I hadn't thought of how nice they would be with a cardigan. I'm going to give it more thought next time I buy something.
Be blessed!

Oh my, your new dress is beyond lovely and beautiful!! Without even reading how happy and delighted you are with it, it is easy to tell how perfectly it fits you and that it was made just for you because it is so perfect. Don't you just love a dress that fits that way and comes to the right length, too? Especially for us tall girls :)

Good morning, BEAUTIFUL!!!!!!!!! I love, I absolutely LOVE a handmade dress. This is such a beauty, and the color combo of yellow and red are very special to me, AND it suits you so well! I can remember right now, as I'm sitting here in my sunny front room, remembering my childhood, the fabric my mother got to make me a dress for school. I was about in third grade - it was yellow with little red flowers.

Excellent seamstress! Isn't it lovely to have blog friends? BLESSINGS TO YOU!

Oh Stephanie, what a gorgeous dress that Sarah made so perfectly for you! It's as if you were there for her to get the perfect fit, and yet you just sent your measurements! The fabric is just darling and of course, I love the red buttons. Your red cardigan just sets the pretty dress off, but it's your sweet, and happy smile that shines through. Thank you for sharing your lovely, made-just-for-you dress. Love and hugs!

So, so lovely and feminine! I love the way that you paired it with the red cardigan. I love thrift shopping, too! I am so blessed to have a church thrift shop within walking distance of where we live and it was such a blessing to me through this past winter in the Midwest to be able to walk there with my little ones during the week while my husband and I were sharing one vehicle for a time. The Lord is so good. May He bless you, Stephanie. Your posts lift my heart up to the sweet things that He gives.

Oh Stephanie, I just love this dress!!! It looks beautiful on you. I love it!! I am for sure going to check out her shop, as I'm always frustrated that I can't find just what I want in the stores. Either the neckline is too low, or the length is too short, and I'm sorry, but some "modest" clothing dresses can look frumpy. Yours is just darling and very stylish. Love the vintage vibe too, my favorite! Thanks for letting us know about your friend.
Blessings, xo Deborah

Oh my word, Stephanie, what a lovely, precious friend you are to write such a special post....not just about the dress, but about our friendship and all. You brought tears to my eyes as I read it, and that hardly-to-never-at-all happens. Thank you from the bottom of my heart, sweet lady, and may I say that you are one of my dearest friends as well. It is so evident how the Lord Jesus Christ allowed us to cross each other's paths. Your dedication to Him and to your family and to all things wholesome and pure and lovely is so refreshing and uplifting! Visiting your blog is often a favorite way to end the day on the computer, knowing I won't be defiled or disgusted and guaranteed to be uplifted or relaxed by some good words and pretty pictures. :)

This post has been the best-ever advertisement for my shop ever. You have quite the following, and so many of the ladies visited my shop that I had the most hits in a single day ever. :) I hope they enjoyed what they saw and will come back when they need a gift or some clothing. Thank you so much for featuring my shop and the coupon code!

And lastly, the photos of you are simply stunning. You are one pretty lady, and you wear that dress well. It is an answer to many prayers that it fits so perfectly, considering I sewed it from nearly 1,000 miles away with no opportunity for fittings! The red accessories are just perfect and you look like summertime all wrapped up in a pretty, petite package. :) It was an honor to sew for you and I would love to do so again should you need (or want) another frock one day!

Love you lots, Stephanie, and may the Lord bless you for your kindness. In Him, SARAH
