How Dear To My Heart

How dear to my heart, when the pathway is lonely,
That wonderful promise of Jesus my Lord,
That message of mercy, of love and compassion,
I read on the page of His own blessed Word:

When chilled by the waves that are surging around me,
And clouds of affliction like billows may roll,
I’ll cling to His Word, which can never be broken,
And joy in the comfort it brings to my soul.

Though tried in the furnace, my faith shall not falter,
But, trusting in Jesus, the Cross I will bear;
And hoping, enduring, believing, obeying,
I’ll cling to His promise, and rest in His care.

Chorus:
Fear not! I am with thee
Thy Strength and Redeemer,
The Rock where in safety
My own shall abide;
I will never forsake thee
My word hath declared it;
I will not forsake thee, whatever betide.
- Fanny Crosby -

 Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed;
for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee;
yea, I will help thee;
yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness.
- Isaiah 41:10 -

He restoreth my soul when I'm weary,
He giveth me strength day by day;
He leads me beside the still waters,
He guards me each step of the way.

When I walk through the dark lonesome valley,
My savior will walk with me there;
And safely His great hand will lead me
To the mansions He's gone to prepare.

Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me
All the days, all the days of my life;
Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me
All the days, all the days of my life.

And I shall dwell in the house of the Lord forever,
And I shall feast at the table spread for me;
Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me
All the days, all the days of my life.
- John Peterson and Alfred B. Smith -

Have a blessed and peaceful Lord's Day, friends!

Happy Lord's Day, Stephanie! This stanza is the story of my life:

"When chilled by the waves that are surging around me,
And clouds of affliction like billows may roll,
I’ll cling to His Word, which can never be broken,
And joy in the comfort it brings to my soul."

Hope you have a lovely day!

Oh, Stephanie, such a beautiful and encouraging post today...and a great reminder for us all to fear not, for God is always with us and holds up in the palm of His might hand. What comfort! I love these wonderful, rich hymns of truth and hope. And what a precious passage from Isaiah. These are some of the verses to entrust in our minds when we come to the place (where we all shall come someday) when we need His Word to comfort and strengthen us. Thank you, precious friend, for this beautiful post! Blessings and much love and hugs! xoxo

I love this promise!! Especially where it says "My word has declared it."
I'm thankful for God's Word that we have and the promises found in it to strengthen our walk with Jesus.
His Word is all that we need.
Lovely post, and beautiful photos of that gorgeous bird. Funny we are so close yet we do not have that bird here.

Enjoy your peaceful Lord's Day~

This is one of my favorite life verses. I haven't heard that song in a long time. I read in a commentary that "surely" (goodness and mercy) means that positively, certainly goodness and mercy shall run to you and jump on your back as a child does and just cover you!

What a beautiful bird! We don't see any like that here. Fanny Crosby was such a wonderful hymn writer. There seems to be no end to the number she wrote. (I do not know this one so am going on a search.)

Such beautiful words of comfort on this Lord's Day! I haven't heard that hymn by Fanny Crosby. I can only imagine how beautiful it is whe paired with the melody! Such a gifted writer she was, and the words she wrote could only come from one who lived very close to our Lord. So thankful for you and the precious encouragement you provide here, Stephanie. God bless you, my friend!

Such an encouragement, Stephanie!

I like to think of mercy and goodness following me because that's what I leave behind as I go.

Bless you.

What beautiful verses you've shared from the book of the Old Testament that I am currently reading, sweet friend. I don't know the hymn that you've shared, but I wish I could hear you play it. Was that bird in your yard? Oh my, it's so pretty and one that I've never seen.
I hope you had a blessed and peaceful day, too! Love you!

Such Beautiful reassuring words that our Lord is with us at all times, even though sometimes he feels so far away he is right there by our side. Your pictures are just amazing, I don't think I have seen such a pretty colorful bird, love the ones with that metallic like shimmer to them. Hope you have a wonderful week ahead!

Look at that colorful and sweet bird! I see many ordinary birds around here, but then I come across a few that are a bit more unusual looking, and this one really is. I love to listen to the birds, and sometimes when my world is unsettling, a dove will fly by my side and bring me a message of peace. Thank you for your bird photos today, Stephanie, and the comforting words.

love, ~Sheri

Stephanie! Hello!!!!!! I just saw that you visited my blog then read the interview! Thank you so much! It was fun to collaborate with Vicki in such a way, and to allow my readers to get to know me more, since I try to stay away from doing that on my own blog! She did a great job.

Well my friend, I go back to school next week. It's been such a treat of a summer, enjoying God's glorious gifts. Blessings to you and everyone! Anita
