Blogging Friends and A Sweet Tea Pocket Coaster

Happy day to you, lovelies!
It was all I could do to wait until today
to share about a lovely little tea party I attended this past Saturday.
Over the weekend I had the joy and honor of meeting up with some ladies
who have participated in the Tea Cup and Mug Exchange.
We met at The Dusty Rose Tea Room which may sound like a familiar place
because my mom and I met Deborah from The Beautiful Matters there.
You can read about that visit by clicking here.

I can't begin to describe the joy of meeting these ladies in person for the very first time.
Each lady was not only kind and gracious, but incredibly beautiful inside and out.
There was sweet fellowship all around
and the chatter that took place around the tea table warmed my heart.
Truly, meeting these ladies was incredibly special. . .
it was a day I shall not soon forget.

Back Row - left to right:
Debbie {my mom} from She Graces Her Home
Anne from Phamily Blog
Lisa
Martha Anne

Front Row - left to right:
Dawn {my sister}
Me
Brielle
Chas

Lisa adorned some floral paper with a tea poem
and shared one with each lady- what a sweetheart!
I placed mine by my tea cart in my dining room :)

As a "thank you" to these delightful ladies for being willing to meet at
The Dusty Rose Tea Room
I made these sweet little tea pocket coasters.
It's the perfect "happy happy" to give your tea-loving friend. . .
a coaster that is filled with a tea bag, chocolate, a napkin, and a tag.

To make one of these darling coasters
you will need two 5-inch squares.
One the back side of one square you will iron on a piece of fusible fleece. . .
or simply use a scrap piece of batting which you will pin onto the back side.

For my pocket I used part of a vintage hankie.
I attached it to the front side of the pocket by sewing along the three edges.

Place the squares right sides together and pin into place.
Sew along the four edges with a 1/4-inch seam allowance
and leave a small opening for turning the coaster right side out.

Once you've pulled the coaster right side out
press with an iron and finish by top stitching all four edges.

You can also embellish your coaster
by adding buttons or fabric flowers.

I kept my embellishments to the side
so that there was plenty of room for resting my tea cup on the coaster.

Now to finish the coaster you need to fill the pocket with goodies.
As you can see I added a tea bag, mini chocolate bar, napkin, and a tag.

Tuck everything inside
and you have a darling little gift for a friend or loved one.

I made a few others with different pocket styles.
Here is one with two layers of lace.

This pretty blush coaster has a vintage doily pocket.

And instead of a paper napkin
I tucked in a vintage linen napkin.

And this country looking coaster
has a pocket made from vintage eyelet fabric.

These would make lovely gifts during the holiday season.
Instead of tea you could put a pouch of hot cocoa in the pocket
along with a candy cane.

Happy day to you, sweet friends!

What a sweet time you must have had together, sweet Stephanie! That is so wonderful! I know the ladies must have really enjoyed this. Hopefully, you can do this often...like make it a quarterly gathering or annually or something. I have a hunch that it will grow in numbers, as you go, just like the tea cup/mug exchange has done. You will probably never realize just how far-reaching your ministry of gathering ladies together for fellowship really is! You are surely a dear blessing to us all!

I read your post via FB this morning and left a comment there but wanted to say again how lovely you ladies look and what a nice idea the pocket teacup coasters are.

What a cute idea that tea pocket is!!! Love it. The things shown at the end of your blog are all just beautiful, too...BUT not nearly as beautiful as that group of ladies. I didn't realize that Anne lived so close to you. I just love her and your mom. I don't know the other ladies but I bet they are wonderful ladies, too, if you wanted to meet up with them.

Blogging has certainly joined many 'like souls' together, hasn't it? What a blessing! xo Diana

Although I am joking, I sometimes wish I lived closer to one day be able to meet up with you and your sweet mom. The coasters are just the sweetest things, as well as all of your other lovely creations. Enjoy the rest of your week!

Thank you once more for a very inspiring post. Your teacup coasters are wonderful (and you find always the loveliest fabrics and embellishments). The cute pocket makes them really pretty and I think I will try to make some table mats - with a pocket.
I had a look at your Etsy items too. Oh, I would like to buy all of them! :)
Blessings and hugs! ♥
