These apple dumplings are so tasty and practically melt in your mouth.
I found this recipe online quite a while ago
and I have tweaked it to my liking.
I found this recipe online quite a while ago
and I have tweaked it to my liking.
And yes, Mountain Dew is used in the recipe :)
Ingredients:
2 large apples, peeled and cored
2 (10 oz) cans refrigerated crescent dough
3/4 - 1 cup packed brown sugar
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1 - 1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract
1 cup butter
1 cup Mountain Dew or citrus soda
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F
and grease a 9x13 baking dish.
Cut each apple into 8 wedges.
Separate the crescent dough into triangles.
Roll each apple wedge in crescent dough starting at the smallest end
and then pinch to seal.
Place in prepared baking dish.
Melt butter in a saucepan
and stir in sugar and cinnamon.
Cook until you have a nice, thick syrup.
Pour over apple dumplings.
Pour Mountain Dew over the dumplings.
Bake for 35 - 45 minutes, or until golden brown.
Serve warm with ice cream or cream.
And 2 minutes later this is what your bowl will look like....
Trust me, this recipe is fantastic!
Enjoy :)

Ohhhh Stephanie, those look wonderful! You know how I like these. I was going to make apple pies this week-end, but maybe I will have to save some of the apples for this. Did these help our sick one to feel better?

Hi Stephanie, I’m Anne from Life on the Funny Farm (http://annesfunnyfarm.blogspot.com), and I’m visiting from Farmgirl Friday.
Do you know, I'm a little embarassed to admit this, but I don't think I've ever had apple dumplings before! Apple pies, apple muffins, and just about everything, but never dumplings. Now I can try yours. Thanks!
Anyway, it’s nice to “meet” you! Hope you can pop by my blog sometime to say hi…
Your recipe looks very good and easy enough that I could make it!

Stephanie, I tried the Apple Dumplings for some guests this week and the kids LOVED them. They were so happy to learn they were easy enough for them to be able to fix as well. And my husband loved them too and has requested I fix them often. Thanks for posting the recipe.
