October's Party

The days are getting shorter and the nights are cooling down.
Soon the Autumn days will be over
so lets make the most of each beautiful moment.
Listen as the leaves crunch beneath our steps
and smell the sweet scent of the mountain air.
Join me, friends,
on this lovely October day for a delightful tea party outside....

October gave a party;
The leaves by hundreds came -
The Chestnuts, Oaks, and Maples,
And leaves of every name.
The Sunshine spread a carpet,
And everything was grand,
Miss Weather led the dancing,
Professor Wind the band.

The Chestnuts came in yellow,
The Oaks in crimson dressed;
The lovely Misses Maple
In scarlet looked their best;
All balanced to their partners;
And gaily fluttered by;
The sight was like a rainbow
New fallen from the sky.

Then, in the rustic hollow,
At hide-and-seek they played,
The party closed at sundown,
And everybody stayed.
Professor Wind played louder;
They flew along the ground;
And then the party ended
In jolly "hands around."

It's always a joy and pleasure to have you join me for tea :)
Thank you for visiting and may you be richly blessed today, tomorrow, and always!

"October's Party" is one of my favorite poems!! When I was a youngster I memorized this poem as a homeschool assignment. I can still remember the first few lines, and think of them often this time of year. : ) Your October tea looks so inviting.

Your picnic basket is the perfect place to set an outdoor tea. I love the colors of your roses and how they complement your cup and saucer. The apples are a great addition for fall and having us smell their aroma with the sweet roses. Hope your week is lovely!

Such beautiful photos, and they go with the poetry so well! :) That Tozer book is on my list and I can't wait to devour that. I've been a lover of Tozer quotes since I was 12, but haven't had a chance to officially read anything yet. I'm anxious for that day!

Thank you again for stopping by my blog and commenting. I'm thrilled to be writing along with you on MOHL!

What a lovely October tea. Your photos are beautiful, I love the apple basket.
Aunt Dodi and I were walking through the fall leaves this week-end. The sound is so beautiful.

"Only to sit and think of God, Oh what a joy it is. To think the thought, to breathe the name, earth has no other bliss."
That is beautiful! Only to sit and think of God, I would love to do just that. :)

You have such a flair for photography and putting everything together just right. I love all your pictures. Did you notice the one that shows the tea in the cup, reflects the branches. I'm wondering about the roses in so many of your pictures. Does your hubby give them to you? Thanks for sharing this poem and the book. ~ Abby

BEAUTIFUL POST, Stephanie! I can just imagine curling up on a quilt in a big sweater and boots. SOMETIMES I think the Lord provided us the change of season to draw our attention back to HIM.
