Welcome To My Kitchen

In my post about my craft room I mentioned it was my favorite room...
well, the kitchen is my second favorite.

Please join me for a small tour :)

( The apron I am wearing was made by a dear friend, Roxy, who blogs at

I have a lot more cupboard space in this home than our previous home.
I even have a few empty cupboards at the moment, but I am sure that won't last long :)

This home came with a dish washer and I was quite thrilled since I did not have one before,
just my hands to do the scrubbing.
Well go figure, it doesn't work properly! haha
Oh well, my hands work just fine...

See those tall cupboard doors?
They have racks on the inside for holding spices - wow, what a great thing to have!
That is one of my favorite things about this kitchen
since I used to have to dig around for the spice/seasoning that I wanted when cooking.
Now I can just open the doors and see each one - yes, I feel spoiled.

I wasn't sure what color I wanted to go with for the kitchen,
but finally chose red and blue.
To be quite honest, those are not my "normal" colors
and it all started with the bowls on the top of my fridge.
My cousin gave me those bowls when I got married
and when I put them out I just loved how bright and cheerful they looked.
Then I found something blue and I thought it looked really cute together.
So I have slowly been adding red and blue items to the kitchen :)

I found these amazing vintage canisters on Etsy and the lids were so tight
that it was hard to get them off without spilling what was inside
so now they work perfectly as utensil holders :)

I hung the lids above the door that goes into the laundry room.

I also decorated with plates on the wall
and you will see in the first photo that they are around and above the kitchen window.

And there are plates hanging above the doorway into the dining room.

One of my favorite decor items in the kitchen is this old farmhouse window.
I put hooks on the bottom to be able to hang these potholders.

The two blue potholders are vintage and were found on Etsy
and the red one was also from Etsy, but not vintage.

The valances I used are also from Etsy from Fran's lovely shop
I used one above my kitchen window and the other on my farmhouse window.
Fran has some beautiful valances and she is a sweetheart to buy from.
She sent me a gorgeous doily as a gift and I have it in my bedroom on my dresser.

Okey dokey, lovelies, that is the end of the tour, but come back on Friday to see the rest :)

Have a beautiful, blessed day!

What a happy and cozy kitchen! Thanks for inviting us in... I love your vintage plates and cupboard space! What a blessing :) Also, you may try placing a cup of vinegar on the top rack of your dishwasher and run it on the hot cycle to clean it out (or a couple of scoops of citric acid or kool-aid). Maybe that will help... Take care, JES :)

Stephanie ~ no wonder I fell in love with your blog. I could step into your adorable kitchen, put on a darling apron, and feel right at home.

You are truly "Suzy Homemaker" and that top picture would be a great magazine cover for Home and Gardens.

Love your farm window. Like mine over my stove except mine has mirrors instead of plain glass.

Love the entire look. Every nook and granny.

Sending smiles and hugs.

Sweet kitchen, Stephanie! I really like what you did with the window, valence, and hooks for vintage potholders. It's darling!

Hi Stephanie,

I love your red and blue kitchen; it looks so fresh and pretty. And speaking of fresh and pretty, that is just what you look like standing in your darling kitchen, wearing that adorable apron.

Wow...you do have a lot of cupboard space...how very wonderful! I'm sorry to hear your dishwasher isn't helping you out much...maybe it would make a good place to store the dirty dishes when you can't get to them right away :)

Kitchens are usually one of my favorite rooms...the heart of the home. My kitchen is a small galley kitchen, but I just love it!

Into which room does the morning sun shine? Mine are my front living and dinning rooms. The dinning room is basically also the kitchen, but the morning sun does not shine in though the window over my kitchen sink. However, the afternoon sun manages to peek in through there, and that brightens my day.

Well, I guess I have returned to the blog world. I'll probably post at least once a week.

Love and hugs,
:) Hope

Your kitchen looks so nice and roomy and such great countertop space, that is wonderful!! That is a bummer that your dishwasher doesn't work, your appliances didn't come with a warranty? I do a lot of my dishes by hand even though I have a dishwasher. love all the vintage finds you have all around, very creative idea with your canister set and lids. You look so pretty in your apron :)

Such beauty in all of your vintage touches and the red and blues. And your counter-tops are almost the same color as ours! I love your apron, too♥ Stephanie, you truly inspire me in all things- decorating, becoming a wife like you someday, and serving the Lord. Thank you my friend!

Your kitchen is so charming. I like the red vintage canisters. I also have splashes of red in my kitchen. I think that color makes a kitchen so cozy and inviting. The rose plate is so pretty too. You have such a beautiful collection of plates and tea cups. You look so cute in your apron.

Enjoy the decorating - that's the fun part.

Hi Stephanie - thanks for sharing your home with us and continuing with your house tour. Your kitchen looks enormous!! Mine is tiny by comparison - but I have to say that it is quite big enough for hubby and I, and still works when I have the family over. I see them every Friday, when I pick the children up from school. They amuse themselves while I prepare dinner and sometimes Lexie (age 7) who has now been trained to peel vegetables, sometimes helps me out!! I digress!! I love that corner hutch , it is beautiful and I love your old farmhouse window with the valance! There are so many beautiful things - you must be very happy - it feels very homely! Thanks again for letting us in!
