Easter Scripture Eggs

A cheery good day to you, my lovelies!
Can you believe it's April?
I believe we are living out the words
"April showers bring May flowers"
here in the mountains - I am truly hoping for flowers soon :)

Easter is just around the corner and I whipped up some fabric Easter eggs
that look lovely hanging from tree branches.
They would also make a sweet gift for someone special.

I added a Scripture verse to each one
so that the reason for Easter is remembered and focused upon.

Here is what I did . . .

I drew an egg shape that was about 3-inches in size onto some paper,
cut out the shape, then pinned it to scrap fabric which was folded in half,
and cut out the shape from the fabric.

Once I was done with the egg I folded it in half
and cut out pockets from scarp fabric.

The pocket was then sewed on to one piece of the fabric egg
(do not sew the top of the pocket, if you do then you can't put anything in it)
and lace and buttons were added for extra sweetness.

After that was done I placed the two fabric egg shapes together, sewed along the edges
and left a small opening to fill with batting.
Once I filled the egg I finished by sewing up the small opening.

I left the edges raw so that they would fray
and I added a small loop of string to hang on the branches
(I pinned it into place before sewing).

Then, I printed out some verses onto card stock and placed them in the pockets :)

Gather some twigs and place in a Spring-colored vase
or fill a clear vase with colored shredded paper.

Decorate your twigs with your Easter Scripture eggs :)

Have an Easter meal at your home and place the twig display on your table
and then tell guests to take one before they head home.

Happy creating, my friends!

We truly have much to celebrate, my friends, for we serve a RISEN Savior!

My Easter Scripture eggs are already on display on my dining room table
with a pretty doily under it.
An eye-catching centerpiece with meaning :)

Enjoy your the remainder of your week, friends!

Easter eggs that tell the story of the Risen Christ. You are such a special gal, and what you do to honor our Lord is heartwarming. I loaned my sewing machine to my DIL, and my scraps of material.. I need to share this idea with her.

What a lovely thing to share with friends after an Easter dinner.

Sending hugs and smiles.

Hi Stephanie! What a perfect mash-up of your crafting heart and your heart for faith. Beautiful!

I have given Scripture verses tucked into the plastic eggs they sell to put candy in, but this is so much fancier, and has such a personal touch.
Happy Thursday my friend!
