Only One Life

Find your purpose and fling your life out into it;
and the loftier your purpose is,
the more sure you will be to make the world richer
with every enrichment of yourself!
- Phillips Brooks -

Only one life to offer - my Lord and King;
only one tongue to praise Thee and of Thy mercy sing;
only one heart's devotion - Savior,
O may it be consecrated alone to Thy matchless glory,
yielded fully to Thee.

Only this hour is mine, Lord - may it be used for Thee;
may every passing moment count for eternity;
souls all about are dying; dying in sin and shame;
help me bring them the message of Calvary's redemption
in They glorious name.

Only one life to offer -  take it, dear Lord, I pray,
nothing from Thee withholding, Thy will I now obey;
Thou who hast freely given Thine all in all for me,
claim this life for Thine own,
to be used, my Savior, every moment for Thee.
- Avis B. Christiansen -

According to my earnest expectation and my hope,
that in nothing I shall be ashamed, but that with all boldness, as always,
so now also Christ shall be magnified in my body,
whether it be by life, or by death.
For to me to live is Christ,
and to die is gain.
- Philippians 1:20, 21 -

Have a blessed Lord's Day!

A beautiful post, Stephanie! The first time I ever heard "only one life..." was when I heard Leonard Ravenhill quote it. I have never forgotten it. Have a lovely Sunday.

Thanks for the reminder. How often we spend so much time on things that have no eternal value.

Such a beautiful post. Truly we need to remember that our life will "soon be past" no matter our age and focus on being like Him. Thanks for the verse from the song too. It is truly my prayer.

Hi Stephanie! That first quote really settled in with me. Wow. Only what we do for God lasts. That's so true, and what a great guiding motto for life.

Hope you are having a peaceful Sunday my friend,

What blessed thoughts to hold dear and think on. I am so thankful for the truth in the fact that there is no greater purpose for our lives than to live them for our Lord! Oh the beauty of purposing every moment to live for Him and surrender all to Him.

May He use our lives for His good and carrying out His will, not ours. It has been a blessing to make that request as part of my prayers.

Thank you for being the most encouraging light for our Lord true inspiration of faith and godliness to me, and the sweetest friend.

Love and hugs to you! I hope you had a wonderful weekend♥
