Roses Of Inspiration Linkup #13

Hello lovelies,
and welcome to another Roses of Inspiration linkup.
I am so grateful to have you here and
I look forward to seeing what all of you have been up to.

Before we get to the party
I would like to announce the winner of my Birthday Giveaway.
I truly appreciate all of you that put your name in for the drawing
and I thoroughly enjoyed reading the birthday memories that were shared.

The blessed winner is. . .
Debby Ray
from My Favorite Things
A favorite birthday memory of hers. . .
I guess my most memorable birthday surprise
would be when my youngest son was in college
about 500 miles from home decided to surprise me.
He secretly made the trip home but parked his car away from the house.
That evening, the doorbell rang and when I looked out,
all I saw was a large black garbage bag.
I very gingerly slipped out the door to see what was in the bag
and guess who jumped out at me???!!
He almost scared the daylights out of me to say the least
but it was a birthday surpise I will never forget!

And one more thing. . .
I am leaving this morning for a little getaway with my family
and won't be back until the end of the week.
Please know I will be around to visit you when I return :)
I am looking forward to a few days of sunshine and relaxation.

Let's begin with a few features from last week.
One again I was greatly inspired by the posts
that were shared during last weeks party.

These giveaways will be random

so you never know which link-up I will choose for a giveaway.

Easter Brunch Blackberry Coffee Cake

Greetings of love from me to you, dear friends!
I want to express my gratitude to each one of you for taking the time
to visit the women that participated in the Tea Cup and Mug Exchange.
The exchange was another rewarding experience and it's all thanks to those that participated.
I am so grateful to those that joined the fun AND to those that cheered from the sidelines-
your comments, kindness, and support were a blessing.

I have a tasty coffee cake recipe that I wanted to share with you, my friends.
It would be a lovely addition to your Easter Brunch :)

2 cups blackberries
1/4 cup water
1/4 cup sugar
2 tablespoons cornstarch
1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
3/4 cup sugar
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1/4 teaspoon baking soda
1/4 cup butter
1 beaten egg
1/2 cup buttermilk
1/2 teaspoon vanilla

For filling, in a medium saucepan combine fruit and water.
Bring to boiling.
Combine the 1/4 cup sugar and cornstarch; stir into fruit.
Cook and stir over medium heat until mixture is thickened and bubbly;
set filling aside.

In a medium bowl combine the 1 1/2 cups flour,
the 3/4 cup sugar, baking powder, and baking soda.
Cut in the 1/4 cup butter until mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
Make a well in the center of the flour mixture; set aside.

In another bowl combine egg, buttermilk, and vanilla.
Add the egg mixture all at once to the flour mixture.
Using a wooden spoon, stir just until moistened
{batter should be lumpy}.
Spread half of the batter into an ungreased 8x8-inch baking pan.
Spread filling over batter.
Drop the remaining batter in small mounds onto filling.

For the crumble:
1/4 cup all-purpose flour
1/4 cup sugar
2 tablespoons butter
ground cinnamon

In a small bowl stir together the flour and sugar.
Cut in the butter until mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
Sprinkle over coffee cake.
Sprinkle cinnamon over the top.
Bake at 350 degrees F for 40 - 45 minutes or until golden brown.

Serve the coffee cake warm
and pour cream over the top - you won't be disappointed.

Do you have a favorite brunch dish that you enjoy on Easter?

Thanks for coming by.
Your visits and comments aways bring a smile to my face :)
May your day be bright and beautiful!
Hugs and blessings!

The Old-Fashioned Way

For whosoever shall call
upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.
- Romans 10:13 -

They call me old-fashioned because I believe
that the Bible is God's holy word,
that Jesus, who lived among men long ago,
is divine, and the Christ of God.

Old-fashioned, because I believe and accept
only what has been spoken from heaven;
old-fashioned because at the cross I was saved,
at the cross had my sins forgiven.

Old-fashioned, because I am bound to do right,
to walk in the straight narrow way;
because I have given my whole life to God,
Old-fashioned, because I pray.

Old-fashioned, because I am looking above
to Jesus, my glorified Lord;
Because I believe He is coming again,
fulfilling His holy word.

My sin was old-fashioned,
my guilt was old-fashioned,
God's love was old-fashioned, I know;
and the way I was saved was the old-fashioned way,
through the blood that makes whiter than snow.
- Mrs. C. D. Martin -

Purge me with hyssop, and I shall be clean:
wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow.
- Psalm 51:7 -

Have a blessed Lord's Day, precious friends!

Tea Cup And Mug Exchange #6 Reveal And Linkup

Happy Friday, friends!
As many of you know I have hosted a Tea Cup and Mug Exchange
for almost two years now.
This exchange typically takes place twice a year
and it has grown in number with each one.
This past exchange was a real joy and there were 77 women that participated.
Women from the US, England, Italy, New Zealand, Australia,
South Africa, and Canada joined in on the fun - it was a real treat.
I am very thankful for each lady that participated.
It is my desire for everyone to have fun, be blessed, and make new friends.

After all of us have sent out and received a pretty tea cup or mug
we then have the joy of sharing our new goodies with everyone.
Several of the women that joined do not have blogs
so I have added their photos to this blog post.
For the women that do have blogs
you will link up your blog post at the end of this post.

Grab a cup of tea or coffee and maybe something sweet to eat *smiles*
and enjoy the photos and please visit the blogs that link up - you won't be disappointed.
