Dear Lord. . .
I ask for opportunities to grow closer to you.
Should they come in the form of a rainy day or rainy season,
open my heart so that I will know, without a doubt,
that you are with me.
Open my eyes to see how You are growing me in ways
I could never have grown otherwise.
Help me understand that rainy days are just as essential
as sunny ones to my growth in you.
- Devotions from the Garden -
The Lord's our Rock, in Him we hide
A shelter in the time of storm
Secure whatever ill betide
A shelter in the time of storm.
A shade by day; defense by night
A shelter in the time of storm
No fears alarm, no foes affright
A shelter in the time of storm.
The raging storms may round us beat
A shelter in the time of storm
We'll never leave our safe retreat
A shelter in the time of storm.
O Rock divine, O Refuge dear
A shelter in the time of storm
Be Thou our helper ever near
A shelter in the time of storm.
Oh, Jesus is a Rock in a weary land
A weary land, a weary land
Oh, Jesus is a Rock in a weary land
A shelter in the time of storm.
- Ira D. Sankey -
A good rainy season can
awaken us. . .
test us. . .
turn us to God.
And when we do turn to Him, He may stop the rain,
shelter us from the worst of it,
or remain with us as it pours:
His concern is not our comfort, but our growth.
Perhaps storm clouds are forming in your life,
or maybe the downpour has begun.
Maybe you've been working to build your own shelter from the storm,
and those efforts have proven futile.
Whatever your situation, sweet friend, invite the Heavenly Father
to use this rainy season to revive your spirit,
grow your character, or renew your strength in unexpected ways.
And when the rain subsides, you'll appreciate even more
the brightness of the sunshine.
- Devotions from the Garden -
Have a beautiful and blessed Sunday!
Much love to you, friends!
