The Influence Of A Father

Influence - who can estimate its power?
Conscious influence - when we are trying to impress - is very small
but the atmosphere we carry with us is penetrating the lives of those about us.

Childhood is the seed time of life - the season in which everything sown in the mind
springs up readily, grows with peculiar vigor and produces abundant harvest.
In this happy season the garden is fitted by the heavenly Gardener for the best cultivation.
If good seeds are then sown, valuable productions may be confidently expected;
if not, weeds of every rank and poisonous kind will spring up of themselves,
of which no future industry will be able to cleanse the soil.

God gives us the soil - our children, and the seed - the Word of God.
The responsibility is ours to plant and nurture the seed in the soil,
allowing it to take root and multiply.
The seed that is sown in the springtime of life will determine
the character of the harvest that must be reaped in the autumn.

Without Jesus we fail to be the fathers and mothers that we should be.
In the light of eternity we must patiently, prayerfully
mold the lives of our children for the Master, no matter how difficult the task may seem.
Is our life such as "becometh holiness" so that it will have lasting results in eternity?

A Piece of Clay

I took a piece of plastic clay
And gently fashioned it one day;
And as my fingers pressed it still
It moved and yielded at my will.

I came again when days were past,
The bit of clay was hard at last;
The form I gave it still it bore,
But I could change that form no more.

I took a piece of living clay
And gently formed it day by day;
And molded with my power and art
A young child's soft and yielding heart.

I came again when days were gone,
It was a man I looked upon;
He still that early impress wore,
And I could change it nevermore.

This Father's Day I would like to acknowledge a special man -
a man who has and continues to live out the words that I just shared in this post.
He is a man who influenced my life from the very beginning
with his actions, his teachings, and his love.
He taught with a gentle hand and loves with a fierce protectiveness.
He is quiet in spirit yet loud in kindness and goodness.
He continues to nurture and cultivate my life by being a godly example. . .
this man is my precious Father.

Thank you, Dad,
for being a man of loving and godly influence!

Our thanks, O God, for fathers who follow in Thy way,
And who, with glad and trusting hearts, exalt Thee every day.

Our thanks, O God, for fathers who show, by word and deed,
Commitment to Thy will and plan, and Thy commandments heed.

Our thanks, O God, for fathers who meet Thee oft in prayer,
And who, for all life's toil and care, find strength and wisdom there.

How blessed are the children who in their fathers see
The tender Father - love of God, and find their way to Thee.

Have a blessed Sunday
and a wonderful Father's Day!

Awww...Stephanie, this made me laugh and cry. How very beautiful your words of love and tenderness on behalf of your wonderful dad. He is honored with this beautiful gift you have given him today, in this tribute.
What a joy and blessing it is to see the love of God as it has been passed down into you and your life through a father who cared enough to live a life to the glory of God.
You certainly gleaned much from your dad in your growing up years. Praise the Lord!

I laugh because of those wild pictures!! WOW :-)
You were so cute, and look how "proper" you are sitting on the bench in that one picture. Sweet.
And aww...Look at our dear Sir Oliver, he was your best friend, wasn't he? Even though you dressed that dog like a baby doll.:-)
Oh those were the days.:-)

Thank you for this beautiful tribute, my you have blessed my heart this morning.

I love you dearly ~ mom

Oh, dearest Stephanie, what a beautiful and touching post today for Father's Day! I LOVE it! I love the photos and the sweet photos of you and your dad and the beautiful thoughts and you've shared! It touches me so deeply because I had a most wonderful dad who truly was a model of godliness in so many ways and who had (and still does have) a big impact on my life. I especially love the quote from Billy Graham and pray that men in our society will be valued more and honored and respected. Praise God that He gave you a man of faith and that you are reflecting Christ now because of his faithfulness to Him. Thank you, dear friend! Hugs!

I wish I had one growing up. but my Daughter, thank the Lord, has one. My Husband is an amazing Father. It makes a big difference and especially in these times. Happy Father's Day to your Hubby.
Blessings and have a beautiful day.

God Bless,

Good morning dearest Stephanie!!!!! How fun it is to see you here with your father, who looks to be my age here.....the good old 70s is evident in the photos!

I hope you had a memorable time yesterday. It is the day my mother died, and my father is no longer with us, but good memories are never far from my mind. We had a glorious day on the porch, reading and doing exactly what I had planned for most of the summer: NOTHING. Only reading and getting ideas, listening to the birds, and remembering.

May you continue to grow from that nurturing that both your parents gave you! Much love, Anita

Such true words, such a blessing to grow up with such a godly man beside us guiding and molding us in God's word. I knew how special both my parents were when they were living but once they are gone you see it even more. Wonderful tribute to your father and such cute and neat pictures to go with it!

Oh Stephanie...what a beautiful, rich tribute to your own dear father! Praise the Lord that he guided you in precious love and taught you in the ways of the King of Kings! Oh, may the Lord strengthen each and every father as they strive to train their sons and daughters in His wonderful, righteous ways!
And I love the last quote so very dearly, for while I may have outgrown Daddy's lap, I certainly haven't outgrown his heart, and I know I can lean on him and go to him for anything...such a gift!

Thank you for sharing such a special post on fathers, dear Stephanie! I hope your weekend was blessed, and that this week ahead will be a joy-filled one!

Blessings in Christ!
