Blessed be God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ,
the Father of all mercies, and the God of all comfort;
who comforteth us in all our tribulation,
that we may be able to comfort them which are in trouble,
by the comfort wherewith we ourselves are comforted by God.
- 2 Corinthians 1:3, 4 -
God understands your sorrow, He sees the falling tear,
And whispers, "I am with thee," Then falter not, nor fear.
God understands your heartache, He knows the bitter pain;
O, trust Him in the darkness, You cannot trust in vain.
God understands your weakness, He knows the tempter's pow'r;
And He will walk beside you however dark the hour.
Refrain
He understands your longing,
your deepest grief He shares;
Then let Him bear your burden,
He understands, and cares.
- Oswald J. Smith -
Extraordinary afflictions are not always the punishment of extraordinary sins,
but sometimes the trial of extraordinary graces.
Sanctified afflictions are often spiritual promotions.
- Matthew Henry -
Be still, my soul: thy God doth undertake
To guide the future as He has the past.
Thy hope, thy confidence let nothing shake;
All now mysterious shall be bright at last.
Be still my soul: the waves and winds still know
His voice who ruled them while He dwelt below.

Oh, dearest, dearest Stephanie...this is probably the most beautiful Lord's Day post - so comforting and full of hope! I just love the Scripture you shared, and Be Still My Soul is absolutely my favourite hymn...the version I have by Kari Jobe is just incredible and the words stir something deep within my heart...oh, our God is with us through everything and uses every situation we face to bring us closer to His heart and more in line with His will!
Blessings to you, dear friend! Sending you much love and hugs...have a happy week ahead:). Xxx

Stephanie, this is one of my favorite scriptures, when I first read this many years ago, I began to weep for joy as I knew that the God of the Universe cared so much for me, and that He wanted me to comfort others with the same love and comfort given to me. Thank you for sharing,.
Blessings,
Sue

Thank you, Stephanie. That was beautiful. Wishing you a blessed week, my dear. xo Karen
bless you for the encouragement.
I am always a day late but never disappointed, for these Sunday messages are for everyday. Oh Stephanie, how true His word is! We can only be blessed when we give away that comfort to someone else...the only way we can genuinely do that is to have been comforted first and to truly KNOW what it is like....may your Monday be blessed!
Remembering these truths is what Iur Lord wants for each and everyone He loves. Thank you sweet Stephanie for sharing it with all of us.
Lovely photos and words, Stephanie! I have a cd with a song called God Understands, and it's very encouraging as I'm such a human. :)
Have a wonderful day!
I love the hymn "Be Still My Soul" (actually, I love many, many hymns), and the quote from Matthew Henry is so very, very true. Hugs to you! In Him, Camille

Hi There Sweet Lady...
In this life it is so wonderful to have His comfort and strength. Missing you today, summer sure keeps a girl busy. LOVED THE YELLOW SUNFLOWERS
Hugs, Roxy
Hello there friend! Such a lovely post and beautiful photos to go with it. Sunflowers are so bright and cheery. Our fields are covered in sunflowers this year. It sure is an amazing site to see. God's beauty all around....I hope you are having a great week. We are still plugging away at the houses, we are painting both next week, so lots of caulking and hanging new trim to go. It's weird, but there just doesn't seem to be enough daylight to get everything done....Ha! Take Care, Amy

Sometimes I find myself thinking about what poor, pitiful creatures we would we be without God's understanding and comfort....
Thank you darling Stephanie for your lovely quotes and your so beautiful post,
Have a blessed day, my sweet friend!
With all my love
Dany
Lovely post
Dearest Stephanie,
Since I'm not into sports, nor eating sweets, I landed here.
Soul food is always the very best and yes, it is also a fact that believing people live happier lives.
Wishing you a blessed weekend.
Hugs,
Mariette
Oh, dearest Stephanie! I so love visiting, and this post is so very precious to me! This Scripture passage was given to me when I lost my precious dad, and it truly gave me strength and continues to remind me of how God uses all things for His glory and how He allows us to share with others. Thank you, and I also love your gorgeous photography! It's such a joy to visit, sweet and precious friend! Hugs!
Thank you for these quotes, just what I needed.
