O Happy Day!

I will greatly rejoice in the LORD,
my soul shall be joyful in my God;
for he hath clothed me with garments of salvation,
he hath covered me with the robe of righteousness,
as a bridegroom decketh himself with ornaments,
and as a bride adorneth herself with her jewels.
- Isaiah 61:10 -

O happy day that fixed my choice on Thee,
my Savior and my God!
Well may this glowing heart rejoice
and tell its raptures all abroad.

O happy bond that seals my vows
to Him who merits all my love!
Let cheerful anthems fill His house,
while to that sacred shrine I move.

High Heav'n that heard the solemn vow,
that vow renewed shall daily hear,
till in life's latest hour I bow,
and bless in death a bond so dear.

'Tis done, the great transaction's done -
I am my Lord's and He is mine;
He drew me, and I followed on,
charmed to confess the voice divine.

Now rest, my long-divided heart,
fixed on this blissful center, rest;
nor ever from my Lord depart,
with Him of ev'ry good possessed.

Happy day, happy day,
when Jesus washed my sins away!
He taught me how to watch and pray
and live rejoicing every day;
happy day, happy day,
when Jesus washed my sins away!
- Philip Doddridge -

Let all those that seek thee rejoice and be glad in thee:
and let such as love thy salvation say continually,
Let God be magnified.
- Psalm 70:4 -

Yet I will rejoice in the LORD,
I will joy in the God of my salvation.
- Habakkuk 3:18 -

Have a beautiful and blessed Lord's Day, my friends!

Oh, my heart is rejoicing! What a happy day indeed when our precious Lord and King washed our sins away... What a wonderful gift of absolute mercy and grace...I am humbled that He would choose to save me from my sinful ways...

Oh Stephanie, I love your Sunday posts...they fill my heart with joy! And I just had to start singing this beautiful song - it is another of my favourites!

Blessings to you and much love! Have a joy-filled Lord's day...hugs!

Oh my, what an old and wonderful hymn! It's been many years, and what wonderful words! Great verses too (and perhaps more than I remember as well). Such a precious reminder of all we have to be happy each day as we remember that our sins have been removed because of Christ's work on the cross...once for all! Praise God! And thank you, dear Stephanie, for the beautiful flowers! Warm hugs, precious friend!

What a pretty and cheerful yellow flower, Stephanie. I went to the nursery yesterday to take a picture of the MUMS for my post today, and they have the most beautiful flowers there. And there were hummingbirds flying all around me. It was a most magical day. I felt blessed.....and I always feel blessed coming over here and visiting with you.
