Hark! The Herald Angels Sing

For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior,
which is Christ the Lord.
And suddenly there was with the angel,
a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying,
Glory to God in the highest,
and on earth peace, good will toward men.
- Luke 2:11,13-14 -

Hark! the herald angels sing, "Glory to the newborn King:
peace on earth, and mercy mild - God and sinners reconciled!"
Joyful, all ye nations rise, join the triumph of the skies:
with th'angelic hosts proclaim, "Christ is born in Bethlehem."
Hark! the herald angels sing, "Glory to the newborn King!"

Christ, by highest heav'n adored, Christ, the everlasting Lord:
late in time behold Him come, offspring of a virgin's womb.
Veiled in flesh the Godhead see; hail th' incarnate Deity!
Pleased as man with men to dwell, Jesus, our Emmanuel.
Hark! the herald angels sing, "Glory to the newborn King!"

Hail the heav'n-born Prince of Peace! Hail the Sun of Righteousness!
Light and life to all He brings, ris'n with healing in His wings.
Mild He lays His glory by, born that man no more may die;
born to raise the sons of earth, born to give them second birth.
Hark! the herald angels sing, "Glory to the newborn King!"

Come, Desire of Nations, come! Fix in us Thy humble home:
Rise, the woman's conq'ring seed, bruise in us the serpent's head.
Adam's likeness now efface, stamp Thine image in its place:
Second Adam from above, reinstate us in Thy love.
Hark! the herald angels sing, "Glory to the newborn King!"
- Charles Wesley -

Angels from the realms of glory,
Wing your flight o'er all the earth;
Ye who sang creation's story,
Now proclaim Messiah's birth:
Come and worship,
Come and worship,
Worship Christ, the newborn King.
- James Montgomery -

Sweet friends, may you have a most blessed Lord's Day
as you worship the King of kings!
Much love to you!

Hi Stephanie!
When I was in elementary school we had a Christmas program and sang this song a lot slower than we hear it these days. Love the tune and beautiful message in the words either way.
Have a lovely week!

Such sweet angels! Today our Pastor's message was on that very verse in Luke and he made it so interesting with some insight on the atmosphere of the day at that time. So amazing! This is one of my favorite Christmas songs.

Dearest Stephanie,
What a lovely blog post for this time of the year!
We enjoyed heavenly, sunny weather and a good walk with 77ºF and our 3rd Christmas Cantata at one of our local Churches. That is the true blessing of this season. Shouting out our joy.

Your angels are precious, Stephanie. I like the one with the blue bows. I love to see blue at Christmas time, and don't have enough of it in my home. I got your Christmas card in the mail, and it was such a beautiful surprise for me. I was smiling the whole time reading it. Thank you so much, my dear friend, and Bless you this Christmas season and always.

love, ~Sheri

Oh I am reminded of the little angel we used to have on our tree when I was a child. I remember my father buying it long ago.....we don't have one on our tree this year, but a cardboard and glittered star! But in our hearts we rejoice! Much love to you dear one!

All beautiful Angels in their own sweet way. My Mother collected Angels, and after she left to become one herself, I started a small collection of my own. That was 10 years ago this January, and although a few are out all year round, many make their appearance just for this season. It is my way of remembering and cherishing my Mom.

Your angels are so sweet as they remind us to worship the newborn king. I think I have the sister angel of the one you show in your first photo; they look like sisters.
