Come, Ye Disconsolate

For I will turn their mourning into joy,
and will comfort them,
and make them rejoice from their sorrow.
- Jeremiah 31:13 -

Come, ye disconsolate, where’er ye languish,
Come to the mercy seat, fervently kneel.
Here bring your wounded hearts, here tell your anguish;
Earth has no sorrow that heaven cannot heal.

Joy of the desolate, light of the straying,
Hope of the penitent, fadeless and pure!
Here speaks the Comforter, tenderly saying,
“Earth has no sorrow that Heaven cannot cure.”

Here see the Bread of Life, see waters flowing
Forth from the throne of God, pure from above.
Come to the feast of love; come, ever knowing
Earth has no sorrow but heaven can remove.
- Thomas Moore -

God's delight is to administer
to wounded spirits.
- Unknown -

Bring to the mercy seat
whatever is clouding your life,
and you will find the consolation and peace
that God has promised
and that only He can give.
Then remember that the world is full of heavy hearts. . .
maybe we can encourage someone today.
- Kenneth W. Osbeck -

Let not your heart be troubled. . .
- John 14:1a -

Have a blessed and joyous Lord's Day!

Oh, dearest Stephanie, one of the highlights of my Sabbath is visiting and reading the beautiful hymns and verses that so encourage me and many others, I am sure. I so love the added beauty of your roses today - so gorgeous colors and a great reminder of the beauty of having Christ in our lives! Praise God and thank you! Hugs! xoxo

Oh, how precious, dear Stephanie! I love this poem. I think about all of the names our dear Lord could have referred to when He was speaking about the precious Holy Spirit, but He chose to call Him "The Comforter". And, He IS such a dear comfort....oh, the times I have drawn from that comfort throughout life. When my dear mother left this world almost four years ago, one of the verses that sustained me was Isaiah 66:13, "As one whom his mother comforteth, so will I comfort you..." And He HAS. He is absolutely true to His Word, and He is there for us in all of our sorrows. He is precious to my soul!

Wow! What beautiful roses. This is such an encouraging post. How lovely all your Sunday posts are and they are such a blessing. The one thought I find most needed is that after the Lord is there for us during our difficult times and provides what we need, then it is our responsibility to use the experience to help others in similar situations. We need to "make each test a testimony". Thanks precious lady for your encouragement.

Don't we all have some suffering in this life? None of us are exempt from it, and yes, we need Our Lord to be there to comfort our "wonded spirits". Thank you for sharing the beautiful words and lovely pictures...so gentle and so kind on this day of my dear Dad's passing 30 years ago to enter his heavenly home. Love to you, sweet friend!
