Courageous Review and a Giveaway

Giveaway Closed

Hello, lovely friends!
I hope each one of you are doing well on this fine Thursday.
Today I have a delightful review to share with you. . .
a review for the DVD Courageous.

When FishFlix contacted me about reviewing a DVD from their website
I almost turned them down due to the fact that we don't watch many DVDs.
We don't even have a TV. . .just the good ol' laptop.
Before I gave my answer I decided to take a look at FishFlix
and was excited to see the variety of Christian DVDs they offer.
So I took them up on their offer and said I would review a DVD
and the one I was sent was Courageous.

My husband and I sat down one evening to enjoy a "date"
and the two of us were very impressed with this movie,
Now, my husband does not watch movies . .he just doesn't.
So for my sweet hubby to be impressed says a lot about the quality of this video.
Courageous is about four men who are different yet similar.
Different in the fact that they have their own personalities
and similar in the fact that they all realize they need the Lord
as the center of their families

* * * * * * * * * *

Courageous weaves all these stories together,
creating a beautiful masterpiece that stresses the great importance of fatherhood.
It is crucial that a family operate with both a father and mother,
or else children are much more likely to get into trouble
and begin fractured families of their own.
This movie is designed to inspire fathers to stand up
and do what is right and to become leaders in their family.
The role of fatherhood is not a passive one,
but requires action and input as well as time and energy.
It is the most important job of all.
No executive position in a company could ever be more important
or more fulfilling than fatherhood.
God calls men to step up and lead their families in the right way,
and Courageous is an inspiring reinforcement of this important message.

Courageous is rated PG-13 by the Motion Picture Association of America
for some violence and drug content.
It is recommended that parents preview all content
to determine what is suitable for their families.

* * * * * * * * * *

The movie focuses on the Biblical truths of fatherhood
and it is sure to challenge any father or father-to-be
to be a man of God.
While this movie is directed towards fathers
it also inspired me as a mother.
It made me examine my life
and take a closer look at how I'm portraying the Lord as a mother.

Am I a testimony for Christ in my son's life?

Do I honor the Lord in all that I do?

Am I inspiring my son to have a closer walk with the Lord
because he sees how close I am with the Heavenly Father?

Do I love the Lord with me entire being
and does that love shine forth onto my son?

These are just a few questions that Courageous caused me to ask myself
and in many ways after watching the movie I was encouraged
and challenged to be a better mother.
It is a blessing for fathers AND mothers
and it shows you how important it is to have the Lord as the center of your family.
As a side note, I rejoiced to see that the true plan of salvation was presented in the movie
and it was a very clear and accurate message.
I cannot praise this movie enough
and I highly recommend it.

I'm so glad you did a review on this movie. I had seen it advertised and wondered how it was. Thanks for the info!
You aren't missing much by not having a TV. Sadly the programming is so rotten it is hard to find anything much to watch.

Oh, I am SO glad you watched this wonderful, wonderful Christian film, dear Stephanie! Isn't it a tear-jerking story, though...? Oh my...I cry bitterly every time I see it! As I already own a copy of Courageous, I won't koin your giveaway, dear friend...I know it will go to someone very special! Have you seen Fireproof as well? It came out before Courageous and is by the same people...such a beautiful film about marriage! Sending you hugs and much love!

Hi Sweet Stephanie! I'm not a big movie watched myself. It has to be really good or funny to keep me tuned in for the duration. I do however enjoy a good, Christian movie that inspires me and gives the Lord glory. This sounds like a movie i would really enjoy and want to share with others. Blessings and hugs!

It sounds like a great film. We don't watch a lot of TV it tends to be more of a horrible weather pastime when we sit down together.

Dear Stephanie,

I am glad you enjoyed the movie. My family has watched it many times, as we own it. Therefore, I won't join your giveaway. :) The church that made Courageous also made 3 other movies: Facing the Giants, Flywheel, Fireproof, and War Room. (War Room is the most recent one that came out, and it's about the power of prayer.) My family has seen all of them except Fireproof (only my parents saw that one) and War Room. You should really watch Facing the Giants and Flywheel. They are superb! :D

A lovely review Stephanie and although I've not heard of the movie, wouldn't it be fun to share at a church 'movie night'? We have these every so often, the last being the War Room.
Thanks for taking a pretty card and making it extraordinary as a thank you to me.

Dear Stephanie,
We don't have a t.v either and watch very few movies on our laptop but I have heard about this movie and would be interested in winning a copy.

Hello Stephanie! I am impressed that your husband does NOT watch movies. That is very, very special. Though I think of my husband as a godly man and well-read, he LOVES to watch movies. I enjoy only a special type or types of movies and would much rather read or write, but he loves for me to sit with him....good to hear that there are STILL SOME movies that are made with taste and thought, avoiding the predictable evil plots and other elements that can make a movie terribly off-limits for children OR adults.

Sending love! Anita

I will definitely have to look into this company. It is so difficult to find good, feel good family movies that teach good values. I am especially tired of the superhero trend. It's more like superego trend, and it is very hard to find anything of value in many of these movies.
Thank-you so much for doing this review, as we are a movie-loving family and are always looking for something for the whole family, something that makes us all feel good.
Have a wonderful upcoming weekend!

I'm happy to hear that you and your hubby had a date night to watch the movie, Stephanie. I really believe I watched that movie already and was quite moved by it, and the portrayal of strong fathers in it. I'm always happy to hear your honest reviews. Please don't enter my name since I've seen the movie, but someone will be happy to receive it. Love and blessings to you, dear friend.

Sounds like a wonderful movie. I am so thankful for resources such as these, as they are really making an impact in our world so full of evil. God bless the ones who make them. Thank you for the chance to win, sweet Stephanie! God bless you and your dear family!

Your review for this movie was just as wonderful as your book reviews, Stephanie! I love your honesty.
Dad and I watched our copy again last night. We have not watched it in a long time, but when you mentioned watching it to us we got excited to see it again. In fact, it had just ended when you phoned last night. I had been crying over it. It is a tremendous film.

Much love,

This sounds like a great family night movie. My husband loves things like this and instilling the importance of fatherhood and being a man of the family to our son is of great importance. I will have him check the movie and website out. Thank you for a great review!

I loved this movie, as well as all the movies put out by Sherwood Pictures. I own them all and have loved each one. Fireproof, Facing the Giants, and their first film Flywheels. The Kendrick Brothers (one of whom is a pastor) who founded Sherwood Films directed and produced War Room which was an awesome movie as well! I will opt out of the giveaway since I already own this movie. Hope you are doing well. Have a wonderful Friday and weekend.

Hugs, Vicky

I'm glad you enjoyed the movie Stephanie, and that you and your husband enjoyed it together. I have seen it, so please don't enter my name. Remember all those Grace Livingston Hill books I got awhile back? Each one of them has a clear Gospel presentation in them. They were written in the 1930s. It's good to see some movies being made nowadays that are doing the same thing.
Have a wonderful weekend, my friend. xo Deborah

I'm cutting in close because it is May 3rd but this movie is something I would cherish. Stories with faith and family make me happy. We have more in common than we have differences so I think I can resonate with that.
