America The Beautiful

O beautiful for spacious skies,
For amber waves of grain,
For purple mountain majesties
Above the fruited plain!
America! America!
God shed His grace on thee
And crown thy good with brotherhood
From sea to shining sea!

With Independence Day just around the corner
I thought I had better get busy and make a few decorations for my home.
I just completed this sweet and shabby American flag
and I thought I would share it with you, dear friends.

I have seen these type of flags on Pinterest and other blogs
and have been itching to make one :)
I went with a shabby and primitive country theme
and simply made it my own.
I also tried to add lots of texture by using a variety of ribbon and lace.

O beautiful for pilgrim feet,
Whose stern, impassioned stress
A thoroughfare for freedom beat
Across the wilderness!
America! America!
God mend thine every flaw,
Confirm thy soul in self-control,
Thy liberty in law!

To make my flag I simply used a wooden hanger
and folded the ribbon over the rod
then hot glued the fold in place.

I pinned the star fabric onto two pieces of ribbon
and the fabric was embellished with vintage lace.

O beautiful for heroes proved
In liberating strife,
Who more than self their country loved
And mercy more than life!
America! America!
May God thy gold refine,
Till all success be nobleness,
And every gain divine!

A pretty lace flower was added to the corner of the hanger.

And for the finishing touch I tied some ribbon around the metal part of the hanger
and added a shabby rose which has a paper tag glued onto it .

O beautiful for patriot dream
That sees beyond the years
Thine alabaster cities gleam
Undimmed by human tears!
America! America!
God shed His grace on thee
And crown thy good with brotherhood
From sea to shining sea!

Oh, what a clever, adorable creation! The choice of ribbons is just perfect, the whole thing is charming and very Prim. You may have picked up an idea, or half an idea from Pinterest, but the final result is so very YOU, my friend.
It will flutter in the breeze and look so pretty!

Oh, I just love your flag! I too have been wanting to make one of these but just haven't. I don't have a stash of lace or ribbons so it is intimidating to go buy all that I need and that match...or it could be fun! I love your embellishments.

I love this Stephanie and while looking at your photos I was wondering how I could replicate our Canadian flag the same way on a wooden hanger. Could be a fun challenge!

Good morning my friend! July is just around the corner, but honestly, I don't want it to come. June in my opinion, is often overlooked! I want to slow her down, I want to continue to savor her "free" ride into summer!!!! But July has its own magic, and when I comes, I will embrace it. Then August is the door that slowly begins to shut down my fun. BOO HOO! teeheee

LOVELY WORK! Enjoy yourself sweet friend, as you savor the days of summer. Anita
