I never met a pumpkin
I didn't like.
Happy day, my friends!
Last Friday I had a giveaway for the Organic Rosemary Sea Salt
made by Cecilia and today I will be announcing the winner. . .
at the end of this post {{smiles}}

It would appear the autumn bug bit me
as I have been dreaming of pumpkins, cardigans, scarves, and golden leaves.
For the last week or so the mornings have had a fall chill in the air
and I can smell the sweet scent of the season that is to come.
Here in the mountains I have already seen some trees starting to change
from their luscious green to hues of yellow and orange.
Its hard to believe how quickly summer has gone by,
but I am anticipating the arrival of autumn.
Each season holds such unique and glorious beauty.
With the anticipation of autumn's arrival I have been making some shabby pumpkins.
You know me, I like lots of lace and pearls {{smiles}}
I thought I'd show you how I made these little darlings. . .
I cut out a round piece of cotton fabric that was 8 1/2-inches in size.
I placed a strip of lace on the outside of the top edge
and sewed a basting stitch so that I could gather the fabric.
Continue the basting stitch until you get to where you started.
Pull and gather the fabric as you sew.
Fill the "pumpkin" with batting,
pull the basting stitch to tighten the gather
and then knot to hold together.
Tuck some dried Spanish moss into your pumpkin
and make sure it's secure.
And now the fun part. . .embellishing!
For the stem I used a wooden spool
and tied lace, tulle, and satin seam binding around it.
I made a small hole in the moss and hot glued the spool down.
On top of the spool I added a gem and some pearls.
I added some pearls,
paper leaves,
and a pretty little feather.
A stunning bead sits in the center of the pumpkin.
And voila!
An oh-so-sweet-and shabby pumpkin.
I couldn't make just one so I made two more
that were slightly different.
A black and white pumpkin that has a look of elegance, don't you think?
I added black shabby flowers to the outside of the pumpkin.
And for the last pumpkin I went for some soft blush colors.
I tucked some soft pink flowers into the spool
and a little sign that says "Love Always"
was placed in the pumpkin.
These certainly aren't your "traditional" pumpkins,
but that's the beauty of creativity. . .
you can make every little project your own
and you have the joy of making things exactly how YOU like them :)
These delightful pumpkins are listed in my Etsy shop
though the cream and black pumpkins have already sold.
The little blush pumpkin is available which you can find here.
I am hopeful to have some more listed by the weekend,
but we shall see. . .
The winner of the Organic Rosemary Sea Salt is. . .
ANITA
I will have the sea salt shipped directly to you from Cecilia's shop.
Thanks to all who entered the giveaway.
Love, hugs, and joy to you,
sweet friends!
I will be sharing with this post with these lovely parties.

Congrats to Anita.
The pumpkins are adorable Stephanie! I just got the Fall bug the other day myself although I need summer to stay since we have so much to do before next year as Mark's nephew will be getting married here. We're starting to see some spots of Autumn colours in the leaves too - my favourite time of year!! Enjoy your crafting.
Love Aunt Kelly
Those are the prettiest pumpkins I've ever seen. You have a real flair with your craftiness!

Love you~~
So cute! My favourite is the black pumpkin.
I've noticed that some of the stores have fall decor on display. I'm looking forward to pumpkin-flavoured EVERYTHING
Very pretty pumpkins!!! I'm thinking about fall, however I can wait for it. I think I may decorate my mantle for fall Sept 1st or so!
warmly,
deb
Dear friend,
I don't know which word to use to describe how much I love your beautiful creations, so I will use them all: gorgeous, beautiful, perfect, festive, and absolutely lovely! I love how you chose to do colors that are not necessarily fall/pumpkin colors- how creative and original! These are so, so very pretty and I can see why two colors have already sold out :) I must say I think I fancy the blush colors most of all, but its close. Thank you for making me smile and get more and more excited for fall with your sharing of your handiwork. Simply wonderful.
I loved reading of your excitement for fall in the air, as well. I feel much the same and cannot wait. How blessed your views must be as the landscape begins to change, especially with your beautiful aspens in fall.
Love and many blessings to you, dear Stephanie!
Jazzmin

Wow, you are so creative!! And you have a skill to embody your creativity! Those pumpkins are so pretty, dressed up really nicely and look like ready to go ballroom dancing :-) Black & white pumpkin looks very elegant indeed. Pink one is like a little princess!
Thank you for sharing your beautiful creations. Have a wonderful day, Stephanie xoxo
Good morning dear Stephanie,
Your embellishments are always so lovely; I can see why you enjoy the process so much. I always love the pearl and jewel look. Give me rhinestones - don't need diamonds.
I am excited about autumn. But for now, since the days are still hot, I am enjoying the last days of summer. It seems like summer just began. Where did it go!
I look forward to the days cooling and feeling like autumn again. God is so wonderful to create seasons. It is refreshing to have change.
Thank you for the sweet comment you left me on my Golden Gate walk post :)
♥Hope
These are adorable Stephanie! As orange has never been a favorite color of mine, I am happy to see pink and blush colored pumpkins! And certainly a little bling never hurt anything!! I detect a slight hint of cooler weather in the air in the mornings. Love the fall, my favorite season. Looking forward to turning off the AC and feeling the cooler breezes through the windows.
Congratulations to your winner.
Enjoy making those sweet pumpkins! They really are works of art! xo Deborah
Stephanie, you are sooo talented! I, too, am looking forward to autumn. Summer, especially a hot one, is NOT my season!
Totally and completely adorable. I bought some orange t-shirts at the thrift store to repurpose into little pumpkins. I know they won't be as pretty as yours though.
Doin' with what I've got!
Be blessed my friend,
Laura
It's never really too early for pumpkins is it! Fall is probably my favorite season though. Clever idea to use the spools for the stems. You are very creative Stephanie.
Congrats to Anita! You did a really nice job on the pumpkins, Stephanie, though to start with I didn't realize those were pumpkins! But then I guess I'm not quite in the autumnal spirit yet! Can summer last a little longer? Oooh, I wish! Fall is a wonderful season in itself. It's what comes afterward that makes me await its arrival with trepidation.
What fun - love your shabby pumpkins especially the elegant black one. Pearls are always a special addition to any outfit or pumpkin, don't you think?!

Congrats to Anita! Your pumpkins are very pretty. I love Autumn and look forward to cooler weather here in the South! Enjoy your weekend.
Absolutely beautiful pumpkins Stephanie. I like Autumn but I wish we could have longer summers to set me up for winter x
Oh Stephanie these are just beautiful and embellished so perfectly, I am looking forward to Autumn coming and these are just the thing to get it kick started :)
Congratulations to Anita.
I love your words "pumpkins, cardigans, scarves, and golden leaves." ... the leaves do all go a glorious shade in the Autumn, a lovely season.
Your pumpkins are different and look great, no wonder they are dis-appearing fast.
Enjoy the up-coming weekend
All the best Jan
Hello, Yes Fall is in the air in the early mornings! I saved this idea and I will make some closer to fall! You always inspire me!!!

Thanks for the lovely tutorial... and while I am sad to see summer's end, I am looking forward to the cooler days of fall too :) Have a wonderful day!
