A Lovely Antique Find

Good morning, friends!
How are you on this beautiful Wednesday?
I trust you are well.

Believe it or not I don't have a craft or sewing tutorial
and I haven't baked anything in the last week
which means no recipe.
With the Tea Cup and Mug Exchange going on right now
I have been rather preoccupied.
212 beautiful ladies from around the world joined this delightful event
and oh, what a wonderful time we're having!

So today I thought I would show you these precious little butterflies
my husband bought me on Monday.

We were just about to walk out of one of my favorite antique stores
when I looked down and saw these sweet little butterflies sitting on a table.
I had never seen anything like them before
and I must say that it was love at first sight!
Okay, maybe not "love,"
but I did fall for them.

My wonderful husband said right away,
"Get them, honey!"
But instead I put them back and started to walk away.
Then I paused. . . .
and I said to my husband,
"Do you think these butterflies will be one of those items
I regret not bringing home with me?"

He replied with,
"Yes, honey.
Why don't you just bring them over here
so that I can buy them for you"

Oh, what a kind man I married!
He is not into "frou frou" things
{as he calls them}
but he knows I enjoy them.
Something has to really catch my eye before I will give in
and I must confess that these butterflies won my heart.

Have you ever seen something that captured your interest right away?
Did you walk away from it and regret it later on?

I think my husband was right
when he said I would regret not getting these butterfly dishes.
I just love them!

Four things, I think make life worth while,
to love - to hope - to help - to smile!

Friendship is a chain of gold,
Shaped in God's all perfect mold.
Each link - a smile - a laugh - a tear -
A grip of the hands - a word of cheer,
As steadfast as the ages roll,
Binding closer soul to soul -
No matter how far, how heavy the load,
Friendship sweetens the long long road!
- Unknown -

And before I end this post I thought I would share last night's events with you.
Our very sweet neighbors blessed us with an evening on Vail Mountain.
We arrived at the base of the mountain at 8:00 pm
and enjoyed a Gondola ride up.
I grew up skiing and snowboarding on Vail mountain,
but my husband and son have never been skiing there
so it was a delight to be with them for their first Gondola ride.

When we reached the top of the mountain
there was a snowcat waiting for us.
We had the cat all to ourselves
as it took us to the Game Creek Club restaurant.

I am sad to say that I did not take pictures of our meal which consisted of four courses,
but I did take a picture of the last course which was dessert
{the best part, right}.
I enjoyed the chocolate dessert which was a combination of chocolate mousse,
chocolate brownies, and Earl Grey ice cream.
This tasty dessert along with the tall cup of coffee that you see behind my dessert plate
was absolute perfection.

The whole experience was truly amazing
and one we shall not soon forget.
I wish I had more photos to share with you,
but since it was at night the pictures didn't turn out well.

Your visits always bless my heart, sweet friends!
Thanks for stopping by.
Love and hugs!

What a special evening! Oh the butterflies are lovely and yes you would have regretted leaving them I think! Hugs!

Yes, the butterflies are so unique, you will treasure them. How sweet of your husband. And your evening out sounds like a real treat, and a special time together. I wanted a John Romaine purse when I was young (1960's) but thought it was too expensive. Then my big brother went back and bought it and surprised me with it for my birthday!

The butterfly dishes are so unique, I have never seen anything like them before! They are truly lovely!! Your husband is so sweet to have insisted he buy them for you. : ) You are a beautiful couple! It was so nice to see the pictures of you both together.

I can see why you fell in love with them! They are simply beautiful and seem to fit your style perfectly. I am much more selective in bringing things home than I used to be. I have regretted buying things spur of the moment, so I really have to love something to purchase it and bring it home. I think you made the right choice. Hope you are doing well and having a lovely week.

Hugs, Vicky

Love the butterflies! There are a nice find. It was a pleasure reading about your evening out on the mountain and dining. The dessert sounds divine. Never heard of Earl Grey ice cream before. Sounds like we all need a recipe for that, don't we? :-)

A night on Vale Mountain does sound wonderful. Oh those pretty little butterfly dishes.....yes they did have to go home with you, frou frou or not. =) Your husband is sweet for insisting you purchase them. They are so sweet; I love the pretty little flowers and don't they "nest" together perfectly. Cute photo of you and your husband, sweet Stephanie. Enjoy those pretty little butterflies.

God blessed you with a very thoughtful & generous husband. I can understand why you love the butterflies & am certain you would have regretted not giving them a new home.
Yes, I have a "regret" story - had the chance to purchase a Jonah & the Whale folk art tin sculpture on Nantucket Island (like I'll ever be able to go back there again), but passed it up because it seemed extravagant (it wasn't. I had a good job. I was being cheap). I've never seen anything like it since & still think about it. And now I'll quit whining.
Loved hearing about your special night out. You two make a beautiful couple! Thanks for sharing, Stephanie.
Always a pleasure visiting you on your special blog.

Your pretty butterflies definitely pricked this girl's vintage heart! They are absolutely lovely! I love when my husband offers to buy something I just have to have. We are blessed! After a few regrets of things left behind I no longer do that....my motto is "buy it when you see it". You can always pass it along to someone else if you have buyers remorse.

The nesting butterflies were meant to come home with you Stephanie and my husband would have done the same thing, particularly since they were butterflies.
Your evening out was a special one and yes, dessert is the best part - providing one has room for it!

The butterfly dishes are so sweet! Bringing home these little treasures is always nicer when your husband buys them for you. The few things my husband has bought for me (even if I asked him to) are the things that I like the best. Maybe because I don't feel guilty then ;)
What a special evening your neighbours gave you on top of the mountain. One to remember for a long time. Enjoy your day Stephanie!

Awww...my friend, I am so happy that you and your husband had such a special evening out. It sounds as if it was a perfect time!

The butterfly dishes are beautiful. I'm so glad that your husband bought them for you. :)

I had that same type of encounter with a blue and white transfer plate that dated back to the 1800's. My hubby did the same thing...and it came home with us.

I LOVED reading this post, sweet friend! It's so easy for me to walk away from things, because I have to think about them, and then sometimes I do regret it. However, if I was ever shopping with my late Beloved, he would do as your sweetie did. The butterfly dishes are soooo you, and your hubby realized that. How dear of him!
What a wonderful time you had at the mountain, and the dessert and coffee looked perfect. You and your hubby are such a beautiful couple!
Love and blessings to you! You certainly deserve every beautiful thing.
