Come Unto Me, Ye Weary

Come unto me,
all ye that labour and are heavy laden,
and I will give you rest.
- Matthew 11:28 -

"Come unto Me, ye weary,
And I will give you rest."
O blessed voice of Jesus,
Which comes to hearts oppressed!
It tells of benediction,
Of pardon, grace, and peace,
Of joy that hath no ending,
Of love that cannot cease.

"Come unto Me, ye wand'rers,
And I will give you light."
O loving voice of Jesus,
Which comes to cheer the night!
Our hearts were filled with sadness,
And we had lost our way;
But Thou hast brought us gladness
And songs at break of day.

"Come unto Me, ye fainting,
And I will give you life."
O cheering voice of Jesus,
Which comes to aid our strife!
The foe is stern and eager,
The fight is fierce and long;
But Thou hast made us mighty
And stronger than the strong.

"And whosoever cometh,
I will not cast him out."
O patient love of Jesus,
Which drives away our doubt,
Which, though we be unworthy
Of love so great and free,
Invites us very sinners
To come, dear Lord, to Thee!
- William Chatterton Dix -

I have read in Plato and Cicero sayings
that are very wise and very beautiful;
but I have never read in either of them:
"Come unto me all ye that labor and are heavy laden."

- St. Augustine -

How sweet the name of Jesus sounds
in a believer's ear!
It soothes his sorrows, heals his wounds,
and drives away his fear.

It makes the wounded spirit whole
and calms the troubled breast;
'Tis nourishment to hungry souls,
and to the weary rest.

Weak is the effort of my heart,
and cold my warmest thought;
But when I see Thee as Thou art,
I'll praise Thee as I ought.
- John Newton -

Blessings and love to you
on this wonderful Lord's Day!

Oh...dear Stephanie. These were just the words I needed to read this Sunday afternoon. My heart has been heavy today as I think on the changes that have taken place in the last two months, but I know I need to look unto Jesus and keep my focus on Him and on all that He is doing in our lives! These lovely words were such a blessing and an encouragement to me today and brought me joy! I love Matthew 11:28 so dearly - what a comfort to have a precious Saviour whom we can turn to! I am so thankful for His love and grace...
I was so excited to see there will be a tea cup exchange again this year! I definitely want to participate this time around - I need to rebuild my teacup collection! {{Smiles}} I am eagerly awaiting the post announcing the exchange! Thank you for being so generous as to host it... Thinking of you and sending you much dear love, Stephanie. I am so appreciative of your sweet friendship and loving prayers! Oh...and your sweet kitties are too adorable for words!
Happy Sunday!

This post was Exactly what I needed to read this Sunday Morning too, because it reminds me to stay focused on JESUS CHRIST my LORD, and not on the continuous chaos and the unrest going on in the world.

These wonderful old songs bless my heart, Stephanie. It seems none of the churches sing these wonderful old hymns anymore. So sad to have them lost to future generations.

I hope you have a blessed week ahead of you. xo Diana

Such beautiful words of reassurance, all we need is to go to our Father and ask for his peace and grace and he gives it to us, makes us strong to get through each day and all that it brings our way!
Have a wonderful week!

These kind of amazing previous music bless our cardiovascular, Stephanie. It seems like it's unlikely that any in the chapels sing out these kind of amazing previous hymns ever again. Consequently depressing to get these people missing for you to potential.

Having read precious Kelly-Anne's words above, I am mindful that we need always to look to Him when our hearts are heavy for whatever the reason. He knows and understands all the come our way...in His sovereign will. Thank you for such wonderful words of encouragement, precious Stephanie! Much love always! xoxo
