Hinds' Feet On High Places - Book Review & Giveaway

The LORD hath appeared of old unto me, saying,
Yea, I have loved thee with an everlasting love:
therefore with lovingkindness have I drawn thee.
- Jeremiah 31:3 -

Journey with Much-Afraid to new heights of love, joy, and victory!
For the first time, this beloved Christian allegory
is a mixed-media special edition complete
with charming watercolor paintings, antique tinted photography,
meditative hand-lettered Scripture, journaling and doodling space, and designs to color.
As you read and connect with the story of Much-Afraid and her trials,
the pages of this book become a canvas on which to chronicle
your own story, struggles, and personal triumphs.

Hinds’ Feet on High Places
with more than 2,000,000 copies sold,
is a story of endurance, persistence, and reliance on God.
This book has inspired millions of people to become sure-footed in their faith
even when facing the rockiest of life’s terrain.
The story of Much-Afraid is based on Psalm 18:33:
“He makes me as surefooted as a deer,
enabling me to stand on mountain heights.”

The complete Hinds’ Feet story is accented by 80 full-color paintings,
photography, and hand-lettered Scripture.

My dear friends,
I was blessed to receive this copy of Hinds' Feet on High Places
from Tyndale Publishers.
Because it was such a joy to read through
I want to bless someone else with it.
So I am having a little giveaway
for this beautifully worded and illustrated book.
Keep reading to find out how you can enter your name into the drawing.

The LORD God is my strength,
and he will make my feet like hinds' feet,
and he will make me to walk upon mine high places.
To the chief singer on my stringed instruments.
- Habakkuk 3:19 -

There are days when we, believers of the Lord Jesus Christ, face
difficulties. . .
sorrows. . .
pain. . .
trials. . .
persecution. . .
but it's how we react to these things
that makes us either stronger in our walk with Him,
or causes us to stumble and fall away.
While reading this book I was reminded time and time again
that God is INDEED MY STRENGTH
just as Habakkuk says.
The journey of Much-Afraid takes the reader on an incredible journey.
A journey of ups and downs,
highs and lows,
happy moments and sad days.
This is what life is made up of
and life is a journey, is it not, my friends?

"Let us go down lower still,'
the water seems to be singing so gladly,
because it is hurrying to go down to the lowest place,
and yet you are calling me to the Highest Place.
What does it mean?"
"The High Places," answered the Shepherd,
"are the starting places for the journey down to the lowest place in the world.
When you have hinds' feet and can go
"leaping on the mountains and skipping on the hills,'
you will be able, as I am,
to run down from the heights in gladdest self-giving
and then go up to the mountains again.
You will be able to mount to the High Places swifter than eagles,
for it is only up on the High Places of Love
that anyone can receive the power to pour themselves down
in an utter abandonment of self-giving."
{ Hinds' Feet on High Places - pg. 23 }

Hinds' Feet on High Places
is a beautiful love story that reminds us
of the love the Lord has so freely bestowed upon us.

Suddenly she understood.
She was beholding a wondrous and glorious truth;
"a great multitude whom no man could number:
brought like herself by the King to the Kingdom of Love
and to the High Places so that they could pour our their lives in gladdest abandonment,
leaping down with him to the sorrowful, desolate places below,
to share with others the life which they had received.
She herself was only one drop among the glad,
exultant throng of Self-givers,
the followers of the King of Love,
united with him and with one another,
each one equally blessed and beloved as herself.
"For he loves each one of us,"
she said to herself,
"as though there were only one to love."
{ Hinds' Feet on High Places - Pg. 127 }

Hi Stephanie,
the words of the book that you have shown on your blog show that it is a very nice book. I have always loved the scripture 'I will love Thee O Lord my strength' and know that no one else could bring me through my trials.
God bless

Relying on the good Lord is common for us in this family...especially after receiving terrible health news and recovering from recent major surgery. I am so thankful for many things, friends, family, surgerons/doctors/nurses...but I am most thankful for my Lord and Savior who loves me unconditionally....and I know I don't really say it/that enough.

Thank you sweet friend for your friendship. smiles

I just wanted to drop in and say "HI!," I certainly wasn't expecting a giveaway. What a beautiful book. Gratitude is an easy thing to find during the holidays as I take time out to think about all the individuals in my life and how I would like to thank them for just being them. I am definitely thankful for the people who make this life such a joy to live!

Have a wonderful week Stephanie,
Andrea

This was one of the first Christian books I read as a young girl! It has stayed with me throughout my life and is so beautifully written. I love this special edition and am going to pin this because I know quite a few people who would love this so it will make a wonderful gift! I love that you can color in it and all the beautiful illustrations. I'm thankful for so much but especially grateful that no matter what my circumstances, the Lord is with me so there is always something to be thankful for in Him!

This book and it's follow up Mountains of Spices, are my most favorite books ever. I read Hind's Feet at a time when I needed it most and it ministered to me so deeply. I still can reflect back on the images the author created through her writing. What a beautiful book this is! I have a very old paperback copy of it that is well worn from myself and others reading it. What a treasure! I am most thankful for my Lord who is there with me every minute of every day.

My heart is so full of gratitude to our wonderful Lord for all His blessings! His sacrifice on the cross, my precious husband, our dear son, and so many, many other people and things. I am so unworthy of His love and kindness to me, but my heart is truly thankful. So thankful for you, too, dear friend, and hope you have a wonderful Thanksgiving Day! Thank you for the sweet giveaway and opportunity to win! Much-afraid...yes, I can surely relate to her! :)

What a pretty book! Lately I've been especially thankful for a roof and heat! When the cold snow, wind, and ice start blowing outside and pelting the windows, I am very thankful to have a warm place to seek shelter. I will never take it for granted. :)

Happy Thanksgiving!

The colors and illustrations look amazing from what you have shown. I had a copy of this book, minus the beautiful artwork, given to me once but I never read it. Unfortunately, I lost it upon the way.
Speaking of being thankful, I am so thankful for my hubby's new job! There is so much to be thankful for. God is good!
Have a great rest of the week.

Sweet Stephanie! How my heart leaped when I saw the title of this blog post! The book Hinds Feet on High Places became near and dear to me in my teenage years and helped to shape my understanding of a loving Savior despite living in a sinful cruel world. I would highly recommend this book, and its followup, Mountain of Spices for all to read. This is a particularly beautiful edition, and even though I have a copy of the book already, I would love a chance to own this beautiful edition of such an amazing book.

You asked what we are thankful for, and I know this may sound so unusual, but I am truly thankful for every difficult place that I have been in my life, for the mountains and the valleys that seemed so difficult, harsh and unfair at the time, but it was in those times that I turned to Jesus, and He was so precious to me, His strength was made perfect in my weak hour, and His grace and joy were extended to me in the difficult times. I give Him thanks for these times, for I truly believe it is in these times of our lives that we find HIM most sweetest, His presence most precious, and His joy most deep. Like the old song that says "I'm learning to lean", I am learning to realize that when difficult times come, that I can lean on Him, and trust Him to bring me through, just as He always has. He truly is sweeter, more precious to me than anything in this world, and I am so thankful for HIM, for my family, for the freedoms we have in this country, and for the faith He has gifted us with to draw us closer to Him.

Appreciate you dear friend, you are such a light and a blessing in "blogland", and I pray the Lord's sweetest, most precious and tender blessings on you and your sweet family!
