A little while ago a lovely lady contacted me
and asked if I could make some things with yo-yo's
and share the projects on my blog.
Thanks to this lady's request
I decided to do 6 days of yo-yo fun.
Each day this week
I will be sharing a fun and easy yo-yo project.
I hope you're able to join me each day
and hopefully you'll see something
that inspires you to make some fabric yo-yo's.
Today's project is a sweet little garland I made for my small tinsel tree.
Someday I would love to make a large one for my big Christmas tree,
but for now I simply made a small one.
You will need:
scrap fabric
thread
needle
scissors
pearls
Decide how big you want your yo-yo's
and then cut out however many you think you need for the garland.
Mine were about 3-inch circles
and I made 12.
To make the yo-yo
simply fold the edge over slightly
and sew a gathering stitch.
Gently pull the thread to form a nice gathered center
and knot at the end to finish.
4 yo-yo's down. . .
8 more to go.
Only 4 more left.
{{smiles}}
YAY!
All 12 are done.
Thread a needle and knot at the end.
Now just pull it through a yo-yo and then add a pearl.
Alternate a yo-yo and a pearl
until your garland is done.
Now it's time to hang the garland on the tree.
Thanks for visiting today, sweet friends!
I would be tickled pink if you can stop by tomorrow
to see day 2 of the yo-yo fun.
Love and hugs!

Good Monday morning, Stephanie! I love, love the yo-yo garland. I've admired yo-yo quilts for years but have never seen them made into a cute garland.
Thank you for the tutorial. :)
Have a great week!
good morning! I love the yo yo garland,, its been ages since I made these, I had forgotten how lovely they are and you found the most beautiful use for them!!!
I always enjoy your posts even though I do not always respond. I have been so busy lately with carpet being replaced in my house, trying to get Christmas cards done, doing things for the church. But be sure to know that I enjoy every post and they are a great encouragement to me. Love you. Hugs
I hope you continue to feel better Stephanie. The yo yo's make a precious garland. I love your fabric choices. Back in the 60's my mom's best friend created yo yo pillows and I thought they were so fun!
Hello Stephanie, your lovely garland looks so sweet with the wonderful white tree.
Nice work did your beautiful hands!
Hugs,
Loes
Cute idea, Stephanie.
Those are too cute, Stephanie. smiles
STOP!!! So stinkin' cute, especially on that little white tree! I haven't made yo yo's in years but I'm pinning this for sure. A fun project to do while watching a good Christmas movie! I'm also thinking these would be fun on other little holiday trees like Valentine's Day, Easter, St. Pats . . . great idea - can't wait to see your others!
Oh Stephanie your garland is the cutest garland that I have ever seen! I am differently going to have to make one. The pearls are such a lovely added touch. You always come up with something amazing. Have a merry holiday season!
xoxo Jo
Sweet friend,I hope you are feeling better! Your garland is so cute and I know made with love! What a sweet project! Many blessings for the Christmas season and sending hugs, Pam
I love your pretty yo yo garland you made Stephanie. The colors of the fabric are really nice. I made yo yo garlands many years ago and I know how much work goes into making them. I look forward to seeing more of your projects. Have a nice week.

That is just the cutest tree and garland!!! It makes me smile just looking at it. Great job my friend - and I bet you could hang it up in other places and ways after the holidays are over too. Sending hugs!
Very pretty.
The yo-yo tree is adorable! So glad you are feeling a bit better today. ♥
I haven't made yo yo's in years but they are fun to make. And a nice way to use bits and pieces of fabric! Thanks for the how to! Hugs!
That looks so cute on your tree, Stephanie! I love making yo-yo's. Years ago, my mom and I made a t-shirt with a basket of yo-yo flowers on the front.
I loved you Sunday post, too. We sang O Come, O Come Emmanuel at church just yesterday. I love that song.
Love and hugs, sweet friend!
What a FUN post! I love this idea, and that somebody contacted you to do it. Even more fun, I was trying to explain to a friend about yo-yos and she had never heard of them. I can't wait to share this post with her.
So happy you are feeling a little better and pray that you continue on the road to Good Health quickly. Hugs and a cup of tea, Heather Elizabeth
What a beautiful garland!
Oh, I LOVE yo-yo's! I had forgotten about making them! They are such a fun craft to take along when you are in a waiting room or something...they aren't cumbersome and don't take up much room and aren't heavy to lug around. Thanks so much for reminding me of these! I think they look so homey and primitive, which I just love. I am so thankful you are feeling better, sweet friend. I was worried about you and your name is right here in my prayer list book! Wish I could bring you some homemade soup and a cake or something...trusting you feel all better very soon! Sending hugs!
So cute, Stephanie!
A lovely little shabby tree. Beautiful garland of yo-yos.

Very sweet! I did not realize that yo-yo's are that easy to make! So glad you are feeling better today and praying that by day 6 you will be totally recovered! xoxo
They are so cute! I think you have more patience than me though... :)
Hello Stephanie!
What an adorable garland! I didn't know those little yo-yo's could be made so easily. I am definitely going to make some of these! Thank you so much for sharing this tutorial. I look forward to your other yo-yo projects. :)
Love
Ashley
Before I read your post, I thought you were referring to the yo-yo toys. Your fabric yo-yos are much cuter (and makes more sense)!
I am glad you are feeling better, Stephanie. It is no fun being "down" at this time of year when there is much to do!
My grandmother made HUNDREDS of these over the years from scraps and put all o them together in yo-yo quilts. I wish I had one of them now but have no idea where they went when mother left the farm. Sad- xo Diana
I’m sorry you were not feeling well, Stephanie. Glad you are getting better :-) When I saw the word “yo-yo,” I thought of yo-yo toy for children :-) Lovely to know this kind of yo-yo. Your garland is elegant and beautiful! Looking forward to more posts for your yo-yo project!
How I love your little to yoyo garland! Sweet idea! I think yoyo's have been around forever and I still love them and don't make enough of them. I have pinned a few ideas but so far haven't made any projects. Maybe your projects will inspire me! I hope you are feeling better. It took me two weeks to get over my bug. Was not fun and I didn't do a thing!
So, so cute!! Never been too fond of yo-yos but you have changed my opinion with this darling tree decor!! Thanks for showing how to make it!!
How cute is that garland! I haven't ever made yo-yos but they look simple.
Yo-yo fun and lovely !!!!!!!
Have a beautiful day !
Anna
Very pretty yo-yo garland for your tree.
Love your Little garland , perfect for your little tree, I love the idea to put the pearl in between each yo yo!!
Look forward to your next project!
Oh my - how cute is that!! The pearls just take it to a whole 'nother level. Perfect for a tree - or to hang from a mantel too.
So beautifully dainty, I love it!!
Have a wonderful weekend :)
I love your little yo-yo Garland with the Pearl in between that is just darling! I'm really enjoying your yoyo tutorial and ideas! I hope you're feeling better!
Oh, this garland is my favorite! Can you imagine the work though for a full sized tree?! :)
Thank you for the tutorial to make yo-yos! Your garland is so pretty and I love the little tree! -Marci @ Stone Cottage Adventures
