Hippity Hoppity Spring

No matter how long the winter
SPRING is sure to follow.

A happy hello and happy spring to you,
sweet friends!
I hope you are well on this first day of spring.

a lovely reminder
of how beautiful change can be.

A little while ago my sweet aunt-in-law sent me a photo
of some burlap bunny napkin ring holders;
she thought maybe I would enjoy making some and she was right.

I decided to make mine with colorful fabric rather than burlap
only because I wanted something bright and happy for springtime.
If you were to make these napkin rings with burlap
I think you would be able to skip the sewing
and simply glue the rings together,
making it a fun no-sew project.

Let me show you how I made these cute little bunnies. . .

white pom poms
fusible interfacing
hot glue gun and glue

You may be wondering what the burlap leaves are?
Well, I found them at Hobby Lobby in the wedding section
and the leaves looked like bunny ears.
The main reason I got them instead of making my own bunny ears
is because the "ears" are nice and stiff.

For the napkin ring you will want to cut out a strip of fabric
that is 6  x 3 1/2-inches.

Iron on a piece of fusible interfacing that is 5 1/2 x 3-inches
to the back side of the fabric.
This will give the ring a nice stiffness.

Fold the strip of fabric right sides together
and sew along the edge with a 1/4-inch seam allowance.
Do not sew the ends together, just the long edge!

Turn the napkin ring right side out
by pulling through one of the ends.
Press with a hot iron
and then sew the two ends together.

Flip the ring right side out
so that the seam is on the inside.

Get two burlap ears
and a cute cotton tail to finish the bunny napkin ring.

Apply a small amount of hot glue to the end of the burlap ear
and press onto the inside of the napkin ring.

And finally,
apply a dab of hot glue to the cotton tail
and press onto the center of the napkin ring.

Slip a cloth napkin into the bunny ring
and you're ready to dress up your table for Spring and Easter.

My favorite weather
is bird chirping weather.

It was one of the March days
when the sun shines hot
and the wind blows cold:
when it is summer in the light,
and winter in the shade.

Goodness -- these are simply adorable!! How nice is it when friends and relatives who "know" us give us these great ideas? You did a great job and brilliant finding those burlap leaves - much easier than cutting ears out of the burlap. I'd think you'd have to finish the edges of the burlap otherwise to keep them from unraveling. Love the colors you chose - very spring-like!

Dear Stephanie - these are so sweet! I've saved this project to my OneNote (which I love)..... I WAS going to have company for Easter and thought how darling these would be... but now they aren't coming until later in the month... but I may make them anyway. And of course, I had to go swoon and drool over all of your wonderful Etsy shop items. My finances right now won't allow me to go buy anything, but I WOULD if I could. I'd buy it all! Hugs to you... thank you for your darling and wonderful ideas.... Marilyn xoxox
