Shabby Key Chains

Have not I commanded thee?
Be strong and of a good courage;
be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed:
for the LORD thy God is with thee
whithersoever thou goest.
- Joshua 1:9 -

A very happy Tuesday to you, my friends!
How are you on this lovely day?
Well, I hope.
Tomorrow my hubby, son, and I will be taking a little road trip
and our destination will be the Rockies. . .
and by Rockies I mean our baseball team.
We are looking forward to a day in the sun
watching baseball and eating hot dogs.

Today I have a fun and sweet little project for you,
a shabby key chain.

Here is what you will need to make your own:
scrap fabric
fusible fleece
key ring

Let's get started.

Simply trim your fabric to measure 3 x 4 1/2-inches.
The fusible fleece will measure 2 1/2 x 4-inches.

You also need to cut a piece of fabric that is 2 x 3-inches.
This is for the tab.
With this piece of fabric you will want to fold the two long edges to the middle
then fold in half and sew along the edge to seal.

Press the fleece onto the back side of the front piece.
Then embellish the front however you want.
I sewed on three rows of lace
along with two burlap hearts, a button, pearls,
and a metal piece that says,
"Be strong and courageous."

Once you're done embellishing
you'll want to sew the two pieces together.
Fold your tab in half and tuck it in between the two pieces,
pin to hold everything together.
Sew along the edges and voila!
You're done.

Now you have a new beautiful key chain
to use for your keys, hang from a bag,
add to a wrapped package, give to a friend, etc.

Here are a few others that I made. . .

the best therapy
is a long drive and music.

This one has pink tulle trim on it
along with buttons.

This one is quite whimsical with the dandelion puffs
and the metal piece that says,
"just breathe. . ."

And this one
has a vintage doily remnant sewn onto it.

These lovely little key chains are available in my shop.
Which reminds me. . .
I mentioned a while ago that I was closing my Etsy shop
and at the end of July I did just that.
I am thrilled to say that I have reopened my shop
right here on my blog.
I would be tickled pink to have you visit
by clicking on the link below:

Thank you for visiting today, sweet friends.
I hope you have a beautiful week!

I think your things are pretty. I share my car key with my husband. We only got one with our van. I don't think he'd appreciate a pretty chain.
I hope you have wonderful results from your store. When I get well, I may start creating and selling, too. You inspire me.

The keychains are just darling and congrats on opening a new shop on your very own blog! I've wanted to do that for years, just couldn't quite figure out how to do the payment thing. I'll have to check into it again. YOU have been on busy lady! I love all the new items in your shop and will have to go shopping there very soon, or at least in time for the holidays! (slap me! I DON'T want to be thinking of Christmas yet!!!!)... hugs.. Marilyn

These keychains are so adorable and sweet. I love the way you embellished them, too! I am, along with all these other lovely ladies, so glad you have opened your shop here on your blog. Your shop truly is a favorite place of mine to do a little shopping now and then, especially on birthdays and holidays!

I hope you and your family had a blast at the baseball game...and enjoyed some yummy food, too {{smiles}}

Thinking of you...love and hugs!

P.S.- That quote about driving and music is beyond perfect...it describes my thoughts exactly! ♥

I've noticed a number of people are closing their Etsy shops in favour of setting up on their blogs so you're in good company! Best of luck with your newest venture (and if those key tags are any indication it should be a resounding success).
