Apple Crisp Shortbread Bars

You're the apple
to my crumble.

Hello, lovely readers!
Shall we bake something with apples today?
The recipe I'm about to share
is sure to make you and your tummy happy
because it's simply delicious!
Let's get to baking, my friends!

- - INGREDIENTS - -

For the crust:
1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
1/4 cup sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 cup all-purpose flour

For the apple filling:
3 large apples, peeled and thinly sliced
2 Tablespoons all-purpose flour
2 Tablespoons sugar
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg

For the crumble:
1/2 cup all purpose flour
3/4 cup brown sugar
1/4 cup butter – softened

Preheat your oven to 300 degrees F
and line an 8x8 baking pan with parchment paper.

For the shortbread:
Add butter to your mixer and beat for 5 minutes.
Mix in the sugar, vanilla, and salt.
Once combined, add in the flour and stir well.
Press the mixture into the parchment lined pan
and bake for 15 minutes.

In a bowl, combine the apples,
flour, sugar, cinnamon and nutmeg
and stir until the apples are well coated.

In another bowl,
mix flour, 3/4 cup brown sugar.
Cut in the butter and mix until everything is combined.

After the shortbread has baked for 15 minutes,
remove from the oven
and turn the temperature up to to 350 degrees F.

Sprinkle half of the crumble over the short bread.
Add the sliced apples.
Top the apples with the rest of the crumble.

Bake for 30 minutes.
Remove from the oven and allow to cool fully
before placing in the fridge to set for at least 2 hours.
Simply lift the parchment paper out of the pan
and slice into bars.
You can find the original recipe here.

Enjoy this delicious taste of autumn!

What is your favorite apple recipe?

Hello Lovely Friend!
This looks absolutely divine!
We are studying apples this month, and are planning a visit an orchard.
Flynn will be thrilled try this out.
Thank you so for sharing!
My favorite apple recipe remains my mom's apple pie.
When I was in college, she would often send one back with me when I was home for the weekend.
My roommates were soooo happy!

One of our daughter in loves text me yesterday and wanted an apple pie recipe. They are in California right now and went to an apple orchard to pick apples. This is such a wonderful and gorgeous time of year, and yummy treats like these sure put a smile on our faces :)

Perfect recipe for this time of year.
Yesterday I was craving an apple crumble pie (my favorite apple treat) and thought the aroma of it baking would go right along with the changing out of summer decor to fall loveliness, and it was heaven scent. :}
Right in the middle of changing my decor I felt the need to take Cherry Delight out and enjoy the colors up valley, they were stunning! The weather was absolutely perfect.
Now today...my plan is to get down and dirty!! Iv'e slacked off way too long, those "dust bunnies" are calling me. :}

Thank you for always sharing your your amazing recipes with us.

Have a terrific day~

Oh my, that looks so yummy! I love apples but am too lazy to even peel. I like to cut it and put in mixer (with skin on) to make a smoothie. Easy and tastes good :-)

Oh, sweet friend! Apple crisp is one of my sweet hubby's favorite desserts, but he doesn't like the crumble that has oats in it, so I was SUPER excited to see that this one doesn't call for oats!! Hooray! I can't wait to make it for him. Thank you so much for sharing this. Sending love and hugs your way!

I'm only cooking with almond flour and/or coconut flour these days.. have to watch that girlish figure and all that! can't eat regular wheat flour but may try these with the almond flour. The apples and sugar and cinnamon are the show stoppers here anyway! Yummmmy is all I can say! Thank you for sharing this with us! xoxoxo Marilyn

Apple Crumble....looks delicious, sweet Stephanie. A slice right now with a cup of tea wouldn't go astray. =) I rather love hot apple pie with oodles of whipped cream or perhaps ice cream. Now I am really hungry.
