Falling Leaves Embroidery Hoop

Take time to catch
the falling autumn leaves.

Hi, sweet friends!
Autumn is "officially" here.
The leaves are changing colors
and there is that oh-so-sweet nip in the air.
This is such a beautiful time of year.
In honor of fall
I created this charming embroidery hoop art.
It's a tree made out of buttons
and you will see the buttons, or "leaves"
are slowly drifting to the ground.

Life starts all over again
when it gets crisp in the fall.
- - F. Scott Fitzgerald - -

Join me, dear friends.
I've laid out a quilt under the crab apple tree.
The warm autumn sun is shining
and there is a soft breeze blowing through the leaves.
The perfect day to spend outside creating something beautiful.

I placed a piece of felt in between an embroidery hoop
and hand stitched a tree shape onto the felt.

Then I sewed on a bunch
of pretty little buttons.

After sewing on the buttons
I trimmed the felt to fit the hoop
and added a piece of fabric to the backside.

Finally, I hot glued some cute decorative trim
to the edge of the embroidery hoop.

Oh, I also added a loop of lace to the top of the hoop
so that it can hang anywhere.

Now how cute is that, my friends!?

Anyone who thinks fallen leaves are dead
has never watched them dancing
on a windy autumn day.

Thanks for joining me under the tree,
my lovely friends.
Now I think I will simply lay here
and listen to the wind rustle the leaves.

OMGOSH!!!! Stephanie---I just LOVE LOVE LOVE this. You are too young to remember it but years ago we used embroidery hoops and did applique pictures that fit them. They were lots of fun and I sold a ton of them at craft fairs. I just LOVE your take on what to do with an embroidery hoop. It's darling. xo Diana

Your little button tree is very sweet. The buttons leaves are whimsical. Under that tree with the leaves rusting above sounds like the perfect place for a rest and a cup of tea. You listen to the dance of the falling leaves and I shall listen to the dance of the pretty Spring flowers.♥

Your hoop creation is so pretty, love the different sizes of buttons and colors, I have seen many hoop projects but I don't think I have seen them done on a felt background and it is so pretty, I like how you finished the back also! Glad you are enjoying your fall weather. Such a lovely quilt to lay on and enjoy the day!

I love this! I should make a few (dozen!) of these to use up just a teeny little bit of my button collection. We won't (ahem) mention that I happen to own ten (yes, 10!!) big jars of buttons - all sorted by color. No woman in her right mind needs so many buttons!!!!
