Nothing But The Blood

Come now,
and let us reason together, saith the LORD:
though your sins be as scarlet,
they shall be as white as snow;
though they be red like crimson,
they shall be as wool.
- - Isaiah 1:18 - -

What can wash away my sin?
Nothing but the blood of Jesus;
What can make me whole again?
Nothing but the blood of Jesus.

For my pardon, this I see,
Nothing but the blood of Jesus;
For my cleansing this my plea,
Nothing but the blood of Jesus.

Nothing can for sin atone,
Nothing but the blood of Jesus;
Naught of good that I have done,
Nothing but the blood of Jesus.

This is all my hope and peace,
Nothing but the blood of Jesus;
This is all my righteousness,
Nothing but the blood of Jesus.

- - Chorus - -
Oh! precious is the flow
That makes me white as snow;
No other fount I know,
Nothing but the blood of Jesus.
- - Robert Lowry - -

. . .and without shedding of blood
is no remission.
- - Hebrews 9:22 - -

Being justified freely by his grace
through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus:
Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation
through faith in his blood,
to declare his righteousness
for the remission of sins that are past,
through the forbearance of God.
- - Romans 3:24, 25 - -

Forasmuch as ye know
that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things,
as silver and gold,
from your vain conversation
received by tradition from your fathers;
But with the precious blood of Christ,
as of a lamb without blemish and without spot.
- - 1 Peter 1:18, 19 - -

The Father's gift of salvation to man
required His Son's lifeblood.
Now when God looks at us,
He sees Christ's shed blood
and declares us righteous for Jesus' sake.
Our acceptance with God the Father
rests completely upon the merits
of the blood of Jesus Christ.
- - Kenneth W. Osbeck - -

Not all the blood of beasts on Jewish altars slain
could give the guilty conscience peace,
or wash away the stain.
But Christ, the heav'nly Lamb,
takes all our sins away;
a sacrifice of nobler name
and richer blood than they.
- - Isaac Watts - -

Have a blessed Lord's Day!

Amen! Nothing but the blood of Jesus!

Enjoyed reading/singing your post today!

I remember we used to sing those types of songs at church, but we don't seem to do them any more. The new worship songs are wonderful too, but there's nothing like those old hymns.

God's blessings! Net

We sing songs in church with our worship band about our sin being so red and how Jesus washed us white as snow. Isn't that amazing and it is true.

I always smile when I hear/sing this song. Years ago when my kids were little and I was their Sunday school teacher, we sang this song with motions. I can still picture their little hands and faces as we sang. It's one of my favorite hymns.
