What Greater Gift Than The Love Of A Cat

No home is complete
without the pitter patter
of kitty feet.

Guess who turned the big TWO
on Monday the 25th. . .
Stripester, Duke, and Melly.

These three cats have been such a sweet gift to us
and we can't help but love every moment we have with them.

They make us smile, laugh, and yes,
they sometimes make us want to pull our hair out
because they're cats and you know cats. . .

Cats have 32 muscles in each ear
to help them ignore you.

Many of you who have followed my blog know about these cats
and how they came to be born in our home,
but if you don't know their story
than please feel free to read about it HERE.

Let's take a trip down memory lane
and go back to when these rascals were born. . .

{lovingly named by my son}
was the firstborn.

Stripester was the most playful
when the kittens were younger,
but now she tends to sleep the day away.
Although, every day like clock work,
she wakes up at 2:00 in the afternoon
and becomes extremely affectionate.
She will find either my son or myself
and follow us around until we love on her.

Here is Stripester snuggling with Burrito.
The two of them could be twins
even though Burrito was born in July.

This is lovely Stripester on her birthday.
You can see her colors have darkened with age.

And this is her favorite place to sleep.
The other cats know to leave this bed alone
because Stripester has laid claim on it.
Don't you just love the way cats curl their paws?!

Duke was the second born
and this guy is like a big teddy bear,
very sweet and loving.

He had the cutest face when he was a kitten
as it was rather round and chubby.

This picture cracks me up.
It's like he is smiling up at the camera.

The older he got
the more his face "thinned" out
and now he is very large and muscular.

Collect moments
not things. . .
unless those things are cats.

Duke is a big snuggle bug
whether it's with us
or the other cats.
Here he is cuddled up with Burrito.

Melly was the last kitten to be born
and oh, what a tiny thing she was!
She was also very laid back and mellow
which is how she got her name.

Melly can be rather quirky.
In the mornings when I am getting ready for the day,
she will join me in the bathroom
and she goes crazy wanting attention.
She will gently bite my leg until I pet her
and once I start petting her,
she won't let me stop.
She will use her two front paws
to pull my hand back to her head.

She tends to be a loner with the other cats
and isn't big into snuggling with them.
Duke, Mr. Lover Boy, tries,
but usually gets told off by Melly.

All you need is love
and cats.

If you have a cat. . .or cats
than you know how wonderful cat naps are.
There is something sweet and comforting
when your cat curls up next to you.

For their birthday
I made a little birthday banner
and some cat accordion decorations.

They also got some special treats
in crystal dishes.

We have been incredibly blessed
with our cat family of six
and we wouldn't trade any of them for the world.
If you would like to read about Burrito and Buttercup's story,
please do so by clicking HERE.
Their story is my favorite.
They were born four months after
Stripester, Duke, and Melly.

There are only three things
this lady can't resist,
her cat. . .
and her other five cats.

Do you have pets, my friends?
I would love to hear about them
in the comment section.

Have a most beautiful day.
Hugs and love!

* * * * * * * *

I have had several lovely ladies contact me
about hosting a Spring Tea Cup and Mug Exchange.
While I would love to do so,
I find that I simply cannot right now.
I know this event is loved and enjoyed by many
so please forgive me for not hosting it this Spring.
I will certainly consider hosting one at a later time.
Thank you for understanding.

What adorable baby cats you have shared with us. I would love to have a kitten but hubby isn't a cat person so have to share my love with two girl dogs, Bella and Missy. Thanks for sharing their birthdays with your followers. I will be happy just to see those cute baby cat faces! Janet

I love your babies! How wonderful that you celebrate with a banner!!! I do a party for mine with special treats but now I will have to get a banner for next year's celebration!!! I have four kitties! Two are sisters I rescued from a barn momma and are 2 years old now. The other two were little boy rescues and have been buddies since day one when I found them in the shelter. They are three. My house would not be a home without my babies!

They are good friends to have. I have no cats now after many years of having cats...all my life. I do have cat grands and dog grands, too. My daughter has two cats...Charlie and Charlotte...after a long timeof having just one cat. She decided two is better than one and I see that you believe six is better than two! 😁

Hi Stephanie, so nice to hear from you! Your feline family is adorable. They are so sweet. The personalities can be so funny. We always had cats in my family growing up. The cuddly ones are my favorites even though they make a mess on our clothes with their fur!

Happy birthday to your sweet kitty cats! They are so sweet! We have a cat that looks similar to your cats. We have Kirstie a rescue cat, whom my daughter named after one of the members of one Pentatonix. She was about eight weeks old when we got her two years ago.

Kirstie is very affectionate especially towards my husband. She likes to snuggle his beard and sleep on his lap. She will also go my middle daughter's door in the mornings and meow as if to say`"It's time to get up!"

She does the same at our bedroom door if my husband hasn't gotten up yet and tries to open the door with her paws!
She and my husband have this morning ritual where after he gets up and comes into the living room, she jumps on the chair for her morning head and back rub. It's her morning "muss up" as we affectionately call it.

Happy birthday to Stripester, Duke, and Melly! They were such adorable little kittens and they all have grown into gorgeous kitties! This post made me squee and squee :-) What a special treat in crystal dishes they enjoyed. And I love your kitty decorations!
Made me laugh when I read about 32 muscles in each ear and ignoring you. I love when my boys ignore me but their ears are turned this way. Goro "closes" his ears when I try to clean them. That's just too cute :-)
Happy birthday again to your sweethearts!

i really like the picture of them all lined up...they are so cute, so adorable...i can certainly see why you adore them as you do!! happy birthday to them!!!

I have had so many cats throughout my life. Each has their own personality. I have also seen changes in them as they age. My black cat, Kala, is the most happy, lovable cat I have ever had!
She begins purring very loudly as soon as she sees me or I speak to her. She loves to cuddle and will lay upon my lap, lean her head against my chest, and look so lovingly up at me.
Mooshoo is a gray striped tabby and she acts like a male, very strong and self-assured. But she has become a much more loving cat as she has aged and loves to be close to me, even speaking on occasion!
Cats bring such joy into our lives, each one in their own way.

What a bunch of precious kitties and a very Happy Birthday to the three birthday kitties! Of course living in a house with two wild wienie dogs would be a little chaotic if we had inside cats but we have been feeding about three ferals for several months now and one is getting very tame...looks a lot like your pretty black one. When we visit Adam in TN, we enjoy their sweet kitties a lot. It is quite obvious you love your kitties tremendously! Have fun celebrating with them! HUGS!

Love the photos! We are down to one "only child" and doesn't he love all the attention! Oliver is a 11 year old Maine Coon cat who goes around YELLING: MOMMY, MOMMY, where are you if he can't find me! They are suppose to be quiet cats, but he is very vocal. And when the time changed... Holy Moley!!! His tummy tells him different. He is Mr. Personality too!!! When my friends come over, they have to pay attention to him FIRST! He was even that way when we had 2 other cats... and we wouldn't have him any other way.
So, Oliver is sending MEOWING BIRTHDAY WISHES to your sweet babies..
PS I totally understand about the Exchange, but hope you won't give it up completely. We all love you so much :-)

Oh- I love how much you love your kitties. They are all SO cute and sweet. I heard you need SEVEN to qualify for a 'crazy cat lady' so you are getting close! lol

I so miss our last two kitties-Misty and Mister Midnight. They were both wonderful cats and my heart was broken when we put both of them down a few months apart. So sad-but I can't stand to see a pet suffering.

I hope you have a wonderful, blessed day. I think everyone understands about the tea cup exchange. Sometimes things just have to end for a while because of commitments in other areas of life. xo Diana

Happy Birthday to three sweet kitties! How can you not absolutely LOVE them???!!!! My family always had cats growing up and I loved each one with all my heart. So many memories! I've had cats of my own, almost always, and many many batches of kittens! A few times my mama's have had their kittens in my closet or somewhere in the house.. once by a neighbor's basement window where it drops down into a hole by the window, and we had to lay down and reach down to rescue the kittens and bring them and mom back to our house. Many neat experiences! Years ago my mama had kittens and one of them, who wasn't very friendly, fell into our 1,000 gallon water holding tank! He swam around in there frantically and couldn't get up the cement sides.... I ran and got a broom and put it down there and he grabbed onto it for dear life.. and we lifted him out of the water. He was a poor little (almost) drowned rat and we wrapped him in a towell and got him all dry and warm. From that moment on, he loved us like no other cat has...... and I enjoyed that love and devotion for many years! So many stories I could tell!

Our current kitties are three.... one we've had for 13 years, born on our property in Washington. She was a "barn kitty" there for years, but always dreamed of being a house cat, I know for a fact, as she would walk around the house and yowl and want to come in. Finally, after we moved here to (much colder) central Oregon, she started being invited into our house as the nights were too cold to be outside.. so now she is a full fledged "house kitty" and loves it! Our other two are rescues and we love them dearly.. each with their own funny personalities. My husband was NEVER ever ever a "cat person", but our rescue girl from 3 years ago turned his heart around and he loves her to pieces. She definitely has him tired around her little paw! Now he baby talks to her, lets her jump up on our dining table (eeekkkk no no no!)... and they have their morning head rubs!! he even lets her sleep with him under the covers! I NEVER would have ever thought he would do that as he was supposedly "allergic" to cats!

We also feed two more "community cats" and one thinks this is her home now and she sleeps in our garage (we leave the door cracked open for her) and I know she would LOVE to come into the house and join the others, and be another house kitty! The other is a male tabby and he also dreams, I'm sure, on joining the others as part of our family. We may soon "own"??? 5 cats in total!

I love the quote you put in "collect moments not things... unless those things are cats"!!! oh so so true! hugs to you...

Gorgeous cats! I miss having the companion of a cat. We had cats when I was growing up and my husband and I have had a couple of cats - one we had for 16 years. I'm definitely a cat person but have loved our dogs as well. We've also had fish, a guinea pig... but haven't had any pets for 4 years now! I spent more than 30 years feeding and bathing and picking up poo in the backyard in the middle of winter and... now it's time for a break. I love your cats though! They make me wonder if it's time to get another one. :)

Wanda said...

Oh they are all so beautiful, and you can see loved and treasured. I was a cat person before grandchildren, and many of my 12 dear grandchildren were horrible allergic to cats and so I had to find homes for mine, because, weighed in the balance....grandkids came out on top. We also had dogs, so they got to stay. Now that we are old and retired. We just have Molly, our 14 year old Shih Tzu.

Now that all those grandkids are adults...maybe in the future...meow...we'll see.

ALL of your kitties are the sweetest! I just love the picture of them all lined up in a row eating. Your Duke is the spittin' image of our Cyrus. He is the best cat I have ever had and I have had cats all of my life. He is sweet and cuddly and just a beautiful cat. After our calico Sprite died we got Poppy who is a tuxedo cat. The two of them are complete opposites but get a long great. Their antics keep us entertained every day. We just love our kitties, although I can't imagine having SIX of them!

I'm a cat lover too and we've had several. Our last cat went with our daughter when she got married because he was really hers. Oh, Stephanie! Your babies are just precious...and how they have grown up so! I love all their sweet names and their cuteness is just too much {{smiles}} We, too, know the joy and delight that cats bring to a home and family. They are such fun to watch and they are always doing the craziest things.

As I mentioned in a previous comment, we rescued a black kitten last month Finian is doing so wonderful and is fitting into our family perfectly...or should I say, purr-fectly. Hee! Well, since then, we have rescued two more. Ingrid was with Finian at the busy intersection, and we tried catching her at the same time, but as we were told and came to find out, female cats are a bit more clever and tricky to catch. However, finally, two weeks later, my mom did catch her and she has been with us ever since. She is two-and-a-half and is getting adjusted slowly to home life. But she is a cutie!

Then...last night we rescued another little baby (just 5 months old!). Paddy is a little tri-colored tabby and oh my! He is the silliest little guy. He and Fin are already having such fun together...I plan on sharing a post all about our fur babies soon and will be sure to include pictures. Several of our (now 7!) cats look quite similar to a few of yours.

Well, my friend, they say animal-loving folks are the kindest, most compassionate and caring and I'd say that about you! I loved this post and reading all about your kitties' birthday! I know they are so happy to be in your home and with your family ♥

Sending love and hugs your way!

Ah Stephanie what a lovely post about your sweet kitties. I hopped over and read each of their stories as well. You are a woman after my own heart...we had four indoors a few years back. Unfortunately due to my G Shepherds behavior problems began showing up...so they all got moved to my garden shed and for the most part even though it was hard everyone seems to have adapted quite well. I miss them indoors but sometimes when a new pet is introduced it can bring on bad behavior and that is unfortunately what happened. So I visit them at the shed twice a day and love on them. Take care of your babies and have a blessed day. Hugs!

so cute to see the pictures all at once of them growing up, such little sweeties. We use to have 2 cats and a dog but now we are down to nothing. At first I just couldn't imagine bringing in any other furbabies, I missed the others so much. But in the last few months I am considering getting a cat just because we can go on our day trips and leave a cat behind but not so easy with a dog, although I probably would like a dog more, but I haven't found a cat yet that I was sure of yet. Waiting for that one that we can bring home to be apart of our family :)

Happy birthday to the furries! I remember so well all your posts throughout their kittenhood and how much I oohed and aahed over their cuteness. Alas there are no kitties in my life at the moment - DH has developed huge allergies and we had to let our son adopt our Cosmo. Unfortunately he passed away a couple of years ago. Apartment life doesn't lend itself to having a dog (and not so sure that DH's allergies don't extend to those too), so there's no pets for me. I get to love on all the dogs that live in our building though so that helps.

It is amazing how our pets just wiggle their way into our hearts and how we love them so dearly! I enjoyed seeing each and every picture of your sweet cats, and truly, I've never met a cat without "personality"! They all have their own uniqueness about them that one just can't help but love, and well sometimes be annoyed, lol! My cat loves to try to "pat" my face when I pet him, and he is a little bit overly affectionate, and even gives me hugs. They are so hilarious. I just loved the little party decor you made for them, and the treats in their cups. Oh yes, your kitties are spoiled indeed, but I think all cats are spoiled. Another saying I've heard is "Dogs have masters, but cats have servants", lol... so true. Dogs seek to please us, but cats seek to make us please them, lol!

Hope you are doing well and having fun celebrating your own birthday this week :) Blessings and hugs to you!!!!

I can't imagine life without my kitties. The one thing I learned with my last cat is it has to be "their idea", whatever it is. So I learned to manipulate them Just a little bit to make them think it's "their idea" lol. Happy belated birthday to Stripester, Duke and Melly.

Hello dear Stephanie...
Oh, how I enjoyed this delightful post! I can believe these sweet kitties are already two years old! My, but they have grown so much...it must be a true joy having so may fur babies to cuddle and love. Years ago we ala had a houseful of cats and it was such fun! Now we have our Oscar, although he has been looked after by our kind neighbours for the past few months while we've been in China. We actually weren't supposed to keep him, but after much persuasion, our landlords, who also happen to be our friends, agreed for us to keep him on probation. Happily, he spends his days in the comfort of his home and never causes any problems. Having him with us n a very difficult time has been a sweet blessing. There is nothing more comforting than stroking or cuddling a cat! Loved the cat quotes you shared...they made me smile!
Hope you are doing well...its been a longtime since I stopped by!
Hugs and love!

Dearest Stephanie, now that I have temporarily returned to the corporate world, blog commenting is not my greatest strength, and oh how I have missed commenting on your beautiful blog. Your kitties are just beautiful, and as a Cat Lover from way back, this post was a salve to my soul. Thankyou for sharing. Love, Mimi xxx

I agree with Vee! I was just thinking of you today (August 5th) and wondering how you are doing. Came back and read your cat post again and had some grins at your sweet kitties. Our 3 surely do give us lots of laughs and love. I was thinking about you as I stood at my kitchen sink and looked at the 4 teacup mug mats (shaped like teacups) that you made and I bought from your Etsy shop! I love them so much! They are just adorable and so fun. I hope you are having a nice summer and all is going well.. .and agree that I hope you will come back to blogging this Fall maybe? Hugs.... Marilyn

I miss seeing you here. We have a cat, Tiger, a/k/a Mr. Kitty,he is very naughty and always walks across your space. Our son Nick has a very old cat Rose . Our son-in-law has a shy one Daphne. But we have the puppies too.

It has always been fun to visit you and I know how busy life can be. I visit with your mom still here. It was a wonderful experience to meet both of you at the tea house.

I hope you are well.

Your cats are beauties and I like how you explain their different personalities. Your photos show how their coats are shiny, especially the black cats. I have one cat and one dog and they get along well.

I have one and would like
two however my cat is 8-9
so will wait a get two at same time so they won't
fight. My male cat Shurlee is not fond of any other cat or dog
Maybe my cat could get along with a younger kitten ? What do you think ?
